Publisher's summary

Max Shannon is a good cop, one of the best in New York Enforcement. Born with a natural shield that protects him against Psy mental invasions, he knows he has little chance of advancement within the Psy-dominated power structure. The last case he expects to be assigned is that of a murderer targeting a Psy Councilor's closest advisors. And the last woman he expects to compel him in the most sensual of ways is a Psy on the verge of a catastrophic mental fracture.

Mind over matter: listen to more in the Psy-Changeling series.

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

I Got Lost

This being the 8th installation of the Psy-Changeling series, I thought I'd gotten a handle on what "But he/she was Psy" meant. This time I was totally lost. This time, the actual drama around the love story was more interesting than the love story. They went from strangers to 60 in no time flat. They totally skipped into the realm of love and possession and the "Psy" issues they had to work around never realy connected. I actually found myself looking forward to other characters coming into play because I just couldn't get into the two of them.

Having said that, I believe they will be very useful in the next books. I'm sure their skills wil be very interesting put to use to help the others. Perhaps, we'll learn more about Max's father and get a better understanding of him.

The story really picks up pace!!

What did you like best about this story?

Even though this is supposed to be about Max and Sophie, I was more into the bigger events in the book than their romance. It was way more believable/ interesting that the Dev-Katya pairing from Book 7, with the action really getting good. Normally when I listen to series' like these, my main interest is in the love story, even though I expect a good frame story. In this book, I was WAY more into the frame story. I also appreciated that even though there is a resolution of sorts, there was not a full-force deus ex machina to make everything better in the end. I mean, stuff gets resolved and technically there is a happy ending, but not the knock-down perfect ending we got in the first part of the series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and if I had my way, only sleep and personal hygiene routines would have interrupted my listening. Stupid work!

Any additional comments?

I was a little worried when I was listening to book 6 that this series was going stagnant. Not so! This one pulled me right back in. This is guilty pleasure reading at its finest!!

I LOVED this One

This might be the favorite of the series so far.

Max and Sophie are perfect for each other. She is scared as all get out though. Can you imagine someone going into your memories all the good or bad and being able to project them for someone else to see?
I mean it would be good for catching the bad guy’s sure but then that person would have all those memories of bad. I can’t help but feel for her.

Max is different because he has natural shields and this really helps her. Ohhh their connection is the sweetest. He is so intrigued by her and her by him. Ahhh I just loved this about them.

Oh, that ending sure puts a spin on things. I can’t wait to see how it is all going to play out!

Again the narration is perfect for the books.

What a Snore...

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I love this series. Some of these books have gone onto my all-time-favorites shelf. So in the interest of reading the entire series, which you really need to do to understand some of the plot nuances, yes, I would reccomend it to a friend. On it's own though, no way!

What could Nalini Singh have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I found both protagonists completely unsympathetic. There was a marked absence of most of the characters I've come to know and love from the previous books. I literally began reading this book at9 at night, slept through most of part 1, tried to finish the next evening and ended up skipping to the end to get the wrap-up from the last chapter. I didn't connect with either character and I found the sex scenes tepid at best.

Have you listened to any of Angela Dawe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As always, she did a fine job. The problem was not with the narration.

Was Bonds of Justice worth the listening time?

Nope. I slept through most of it and was so bored by the rest that I skipped chapters. There were some useful plot points related to the overarching series, mostly dealing with Nikita and the Psy, but other than that, what a snore!

Read to keep moving along.

I can't stress enough how much I love this series but this book has the unfortunate placement of coming after yet another filler book. Two filler books in a row is dangerous but I stuck with it and was rewarded with books 9, 10, and 11.

There's not much to say about this one. It could have easily been a side book and as I write this, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad an idea to actually combine the books 7 and 8 so you have the necessary things in one book. In the end, I usually skip this one when re-listening. But as a first time reader, get it, it will entertain you, then move on to the next treasures.

One of the better ones.

I like these books very much some more than others. This one was a good one. I don't always like the characters and sometimes her story line is fast and then I'm scrambling to figure out what she's writting about. But I will defiently finish the series.

Increasingly Complicated

This book for me was more about building upon the layers of the previous books than it was about the actual couple. I liked the couple and watching them come together was nice but it was seeing the actions of the other players that really made me enjoy this. It gives more of a look into Nikita and the rest of the council and what is going on with "silence" overall especially considering the female half of the couple, Sofia, was a minor anchor in the net. I always find it fascinating to see the differences in the different designations of the psy and the J designation gives an interesting look into the justice system of this world. I love the continuing looks into the lives of the couples that have previously been written about and their interactions with the others. The evolution of our knowledge of the net mind is also fascinating and seems to be becoming a larger part of this story. This book did really pique my curiosity about Caleb Krycek and I can't wait to find out more about him and what exactly his goals are. Angela Dawe was, as always, a wonderful narrator and differentiates the characters well.

The on going saga insures your attention. Excellent tails ;-) Certainly not a waste of 10 credits to read the entire series.

Great as ALWAYS!!!

If you could sum up Bonds of Justice in three words, what would they be?

Awesome-Sauce-Ness

Which scene was your favorite?

that would be giving away part of the story. But let's say it has to do with a note, an office and a J-Psy.

Any additional comments?

REVIEW:
Max Shannon is a cop through and through. His goal has always been to seek justice where justice needs to be given. When a serial killer brings Max together with a J-Psy, he realizes he has finally met his match and the woman he wants for the rest of his life. But in order to make this happen Max is going to have to protect her from this killer, her own people and possible herself.

Sophia knows that her time as a J-Psy is coming to an end. Her shields are breaking and when that happens total rehabilitation will happen. After that she will no longer be the person she is today. Realizing that is her future she has all but given up. That is until she meets Max Shannon. There is something about Max that makes her want to fight for a future. But is it too late?

As always Nalini blows me away with her amazing ability to write an amazing story and make it come alive. I always have such a range of emotions with every one of her stories and Bonds of Justice was no different. And again Angela brings Nalini’s characters to life in this audio version. I love that as Angela is narrating I know all the different voice she has for all the characters. She is just an amazing narrator.

I just love this series!! Anyone looking for a great paranormal series you need to grab book one Slave to Sensation and get started. On to the next book!!

Love

Any additional comments?

I love pretty much anything Nalini Singh writes. Despite being a fan of this series, I wasn't expecting to love this book. Previous characters make appearances and it advances the overall story arch, but the story itself is also very good. This story has a different approach to the central story and the characters are likable and relatable. I easily became engrossed in the story and didn't want to stop listening. This was a worthy addition to the Psy-Changeling universe.
