Publisher's Summary

Elizabeth Chapman is saved from an armed robber by a giant Kodiak bear who shifts into a large, well-muscled, and fully naked human male. But when it's revealed that the robber is the brother of a dangerous criminal, Elizabeth finds herself the target of a vendetta.

Ronan, the Bear Shifter, takes her to Shiftertown for safety. Here Elizabeth learns that the mateless Ronan, alone in the world, takes care of Shifters who have also been left on their own. Having grown up in foster care, Elizabeth can only admire how protective Ronan is.

But Ronan will only let Elizabeth leave the confines of Shiftertown if he becomes her 24/7 bodyguard. Elizabeth chafes at her restriction, but agrees. The trouble is, the sassy human Elizabeth is triggering Ronan's long-buried need to find himself a mate.

Love me some Shifters UnBound! Love me some JA!!!

Man o Man this was so good. Ok.. So when I got Tiger's Magic... Book 5, Rowan had a woman, and I was so confused... I was like what? Ok... this is the answer to that! This is like book 2.5, so this falls in between even Iona and the other shifter town in Austin. I loved how the books come out though... because we really don't know about Rowan's household until book 5... then this book, falls way way before that book, so you see Rowan's household before all of the events of book 5. You meet Olaf in book 5 but you get to know him in this book. Sooo cute. And Rowan... OMG! I never really pictured Rowan as a sexy man, until this book. He was always around with Liam and the other shifter, but now...I just want to squeeze and hug him and wrap him up in a big ol bear hug! This was awesome.

Great Credit/buy if you have any of the other shifter unbound books! U want this in your collection!

Narration was just awesome!

BEAUTY & THE BEAST - BUT WHO TAMES WHO?

You may gulp at the price for a 5 hr listen but if you're into the Shifters Unbound Series then this is a must have. I gave it only 3 stars purely because of it's short length.

Elizabeth's got issues and problems but she's one lucky girl when Ronan comes roaring to her rescue.... and stays despite gang leaders and her past catching up with her and they all want her dead. Ronan's a sweetheart and is feeling the 'mating urge' but, with her causing him, and his fellow shifters, all sorts of grief things soon get out of hand - but thankfully the cute and cuddly Kodiak bear can look after her and thankfully himself too.

Sweet romance, not your usual 'Alpha' type, not sexy or hot but a tender, feel-good, teddybear love story about secrets and trust along with a few evil villainous characters thrown in. We also hear of further developments/insights into the world of the Shifters that's been created so well by JA.

Worth a credit? I'm a Shifters fan so of course I'm gonna say Yes.

Love the series but the narrator...UGH

This is the third book in the series that I've listened to. I love the characters and I want to find out what happens with those damn collars!!

The first book was narrated by Traci Odom. It was narrated a bit fast and made the characters speech seem rushed, but the accents (Irish and Southern) were a ZILLION times better than Cris Dukeharts. I cringe and growl every time that I had to listen to Dukehart horrible Irish or Southern accent. The only way I survived this book was that the main shifter voice was Ronin...an American. Even the Russian accent of Olaf was bad.

Do the people who select the narrators not listen first?

I don't know if I'll be able to listen to another book narratorated by Dukehart. Then again, I may cave in because I want to know what what happens with the collars.

4 Shifter Lovin' Stars

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes- Ms. Ashley has truly gained a new fan. Not only is the series set in my home state but the character development continues to intertwine and weave through the series. I thoroughly enjoy spending time in this world! I want to know if the humans will every accept the shifters. Will the collars every be banned? Who will be the next shifter to find love? Thankfully this series was released a few years ago and there are many more to read.

What did you like best about this story?

I found both Lizzy and Ronin to be completely different characters from the previous books. I really like that the author has explored so many avenues with this series. It is delightful to have the opportunity to glimpse into the future of the other main characters (that you have fallen in love with) all while experiencing the love blossom between Ronin and Lizzy.

Lizzy has a very typical damaged girl story and yet she was strong and confident and what we call here in Texas a "straight shooter". Ronin was a great compliment to her. He was big and soft and full of tenderness for her. Ronin was a bit less of an "alpha" (especially when you compare him to Sean and Liam) and yet, I enjoyed his character very much. The way he gave Lizzy space to navigate through these uncertain water, caused me to feel complete respect and adoration for him.

What does Cris Dukehart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He had an excellent vocal quality and really added depth to the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A steamy shifter romance

Awesome

Bodyguard was a really good book in my opinion it had a good steady pace is very all the way through the book .
The narrator was good I didn't notice any gaps or mishaps anything like that was quite well done.
For me there is more than one most memorable moment the first one is when Elizabeth was getting robbed and rolling came to save her and the other one was when Elizabeth accepted the mating bond.

Cute book

If you could sum up Bodyguard in three words, what would they be?

I have not read any of the others in this series. In general most of these series book are really about how much money they can make. I hate when the book is 3-4 hours and a full credit for each little section so often I wait to get them all together. But this one I did like. It was easy listening, required no real thought except to enjoy it.

well done

This is one of my favorite shifter series books. The book is terrific and the performance is OK, not great. Wish the reader was less breathless but what can one do?

Short but sweet

Where does Bodyguard rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As a short story, I loved it! It only clocks in at around 5 hours, but I felt it was a fully realized story, and I definitely connect to the characters and their romance. Sometimes I listen for twice as long without getting the same result.

What did you like best about this story?

I appreciated that the plot wasn't driven by silly decisions or overly emotional characters, but was a sweet story that seemed real, minus the whole shifter thing. Actually reminded me of both Alpha and Omega and Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs. Quiet romances. I like 'em!

What three words best describe Cris Dukehart’s performance?

Okay x 3. Her Irish accents sound slightly cockney, but thankfully Ronan is American so it's not as noticeable as in the other books in the series. Otherwise she does a good job. You can tell who's who.

Any additional comments?

I was halfway through book 2 in this series and it started to lose my interest so I decided maybe I just needed to not read about cats for a while and picked this one up. So glad I did! I really enjoyed the story, and appreciated that it was a concise telling. I'm a huge fan of short romance stories if done right. I actually went back and listened to this again I enjoyed it so much! It seems pricey for being on the short end, but I think it's totally worth a credit!

Plenty of action, romance and humor.

Facing an armed robber who intends to kill her, Elizabeth Chapman is trying to figure a way out of the mess when Ronan a Kodiak bear shifter comes to her rescue.

Unfortunately no good deed goes unpunished, and when the robber's big brother comes after Elizabeth, she is in need of more protection and Ronan decides to become her permanent bodyguard.

I'm a huge fan of Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series and am delighted when i can find them in as audiobooks. In other words come on audible.co.uk, you only have the first book and two short novels for download, where is the rest of the series? You have them available on audible.com why not here?

This story is the first short novel in the series (book 2.5). If this is your first taste of the series, Shifters are second class citizens forced to live in ghettos because they are feared and/or hated by most humans. They are strong and independent, unwilling to give in to human rules and acting against human authority to keep their own culture and make their lives better.

The first two books in the series are about sexy/hot 'Alpha' males and how they find their mates, this book a little different. There is a sweetness to this love story to go with the action, romance and humor mentioned in the title and you get to learn a lot more about the characters who are usually in the backgound of the main books.

It's a great addition to the shifter series and l love it!

I'm off to download Hard Mated book 3.5 which is about Spike another of the background characters from the main books.
