Publisher's summary

She has every right to feel venomous resentment....

Convicted of a murder she didn’t commit, sniper Henri Anderson suffers two years of hard time before she’s given a choice - accept an unknown assignment offered by a seedy foreign dignitary or head for home. The decision took all of two seconds. At least that’s what she thinks, until a mysterious Scottish man shows up and offers a deal sweet enough to tempt a saint.

But has the rugged, blue-eyed closer met his match?

Annoyed that ICE is wasting his time by sending him to Utah to recruit a talented soldier who has already turned them down, Secret Agent Mike Rose has no intention of failing. He’s a tough guy with more persuasion in his hard stare than most people manage with an oration. Disarmed by a woman who’s not only tenacious, she’s downright stunning, Mike tempts Henri with something even a hardened Delta Force sniper can’t refuse. And once she’s hooked, Mike thinks he’s done - he can go back to covert ops working alone.

But Henri isn’t a woman who’s easy to forget. And when she’s snared by the clutches of the very man who framed her for murder, the big Scot will sell his soul to save her.

This book will provide all of the above and more!

Henrietta “Henri” Soaring-Eagle Anderson wants revenge on the terrorist who set her up BUT she is not sure she wants to work for ICE to get it. When Mike Rose comes with an offer she can’t say no to, well, the fireworks begin. There is chemistry between the two but also competitiveness. There is tenderness and respect. There is teamwork and sharing and caring and well…I enjoyed the book and think you will as well.

Loved this narration of a wonderful story!

Wonderful surprise!

This is not my usual choice of book however after listening to several other books by Amy Jarecki, I listened to the sample and loved the narrator's voice.
I strongly recommend this series. Even if it's not your usual fare!
Personal Snit: I am very unhappy with Amazon's upcoming change on November 1st!!!!!

Joel brought to life characters I loved.

I read this book before listening to the audiobook. The story still remains a favorite of mine. Heart racing, breath holding, fingers crossed! I was pulled into the danger and electric journey for Henri and Mike immediately. Her determination and honesty made her such a strong and compatible heroine for Mike who was just as determined and used to working more alone. Their attraction is instant but the job came first. Joel Froomkin's voices brought this story alive. The Scottish accents when Mike spoke or even thought, the Arabic, Icelandic, and so on. Loved it a lot.

Joel Froomkin is beyond talented

Hats off to an actor that can take on multiple accents and read them well.
I am glad I had the audio along with the book. Joel made the story take a life of its own. The characters of Mike Rose, Scotsman and Luke Fox, Aussie, jumped off the pages. He even made the voice of the older boss, Garth Moore, sound crusty and craggy, perfect for a crusty “retired” Marine.
This was a continuation of the ICE series, book two. You don’t have to read the first book to enjoy this one but you’ll get a bit more background of the clandestine ICE organization in “Hunt for Evil”. Be assured, there are no cliffhangers.
Body Shot follows Henrietta “Henri” Soaring-Eagle Anderson. She is of the Paiute Tribe, her mother being a Paiute.
She joined the army and soon was a part of a Delta Force CT unit.
Omar Fadli was an assassin who pinned Henri with the hit on the Iranian ambassador. (Joel’s middle eastern accent is spot on, too). All of her team were killed and she spent two years in prison on trumped up charges. She was released and made an offer to join an elite group of security consultants.
ICE wants her bad enough because she is one of the best snipers in the world. On a bet with Garth, Mike Rose goes to the states to convince Henri to join ICE.
Mike and Henri burn up the pages both in tracking the enemy and with each other. This was a good continuation of this series. I’m looking forward to reading about the Aussie, Luke Fox.

Fun Listen

The story was pretty trite, but still a super fun pace and good timing. The reader did well with the male voices, especially with all of the different accents, but his feminine voice was dreadful. Didn’t detract, but did make some scenes seem silly.

You'll be absolutely enthralled with this series.

Heart-pounding action with a woman who knows who she is and what she wants, author Jarecki gives me another opportunity to live on the edge, and in this particular story, this remark should be taken literally.

Jarecki is one of those authors you know will entertain you engaging 100% your senses and emotions.

I read this book back in August. I gave it a FIVE-STAR-READ. You would think, even though I thought it a stellar one, I could put it aside, read another book, while listening to this one again. Generally, I’ll listen to an audiobook in a different genre from a book I’m reading. Not a problem keeping the stories straight. Simply put, this story is totally over the top combined with narrator Joel Froomkin. I. Was. Nailed. I couldn’t read anything else. I had to listen to it. And you what? I’d listen to it again just for terrific storyline, accents in dialog and living on the edge!

Froomkin has a certain vibrato in his vocal cords when excited or in a moment of terror. He puts me in the same state. He also does something with the microphone, seemingly getting close to it in an intimate setting. I can’t figure it out exactly. But boy, his narration is powerful. So, coupled with this hugely suspenseful novel by Jarecki set in some of the most dangerous parts of the world, I am blown away. Dang it! It was good! Luckily, I don’t have too long to wait for book 3, Mach One, coming out in January 2018. But let me get you caught up in the storyline.

Henrietta has worked for Delta Force. Her bullet killed Fadli’s brother. It wasn’t as if he didn’t deserve it. He’d had a grenade, ready to pull the pin which would have killed Henri’s entire squadron. Somehow, she was fingered by his brother, Omar Fadli and put behind bars for two years. She’s been wrongly accused and spitting mad with this so-called justice.

She’s set free, offered another career by the very man handing her the release papers, saying they know who got her in prison. Henri isn’t up to trusting anymore. She walks from the prison, turning down this trickster, who’s ready to set her up again. No, never again. She has little faith for the good guys, that is, if they ARE good. She prefers to walk out of prison and lose herself in her grandfather’s mine, on the Paiute reservation. A place to heal, lick her wounds and renew her spirit.

"And I don’t need to be a hero. Been there, done that and was paid in misery. I am to flipping the Army the bird and moving on. "

This new outfit who’d offer the job let her cool her heels for a couple of months and then sent out a handsome Scot, named Mike Rose, to see if she was ready to reconsider. Apparently, by her reaction, she wasn’t.

"She let him approach until she was sure he’d be able to see the muzzle of her rifle peeking between the sagebrush. “I could shoot you for trespassing,” she said, using her badass sergeant voice.”"

"The man took off his sunglasses and grinned. Good Lord, maybe not all the redheads on the planet were pasty. True, he had fair skin, but he looked buff—healthy, even. “Henrietta Anderson,” he said in a deep brogue, waving as if they were old pals. “’Tis good to see you’ve lived up to your reputation.” Jesus, he rolled his “rs”."

There is attraction and apparently from both sides. But Henri is anything but obstinate, yet Mike is her match as you see through the story. He talks her into seeing how the new team, ICE, of which he is a member, could help her seek revenge. She soon realizes that’s just what she wants, to stick it to Omar Fadli.

Henri joins ICE, training hard with the other team members. She comes to respect them. Mike and Henri are thrown together in a mission that is frightfully believable and scary as hell. Y-e-a-h! My kind of read.

I’m always eager to read author Jarecki, a writer who knows how to create thrilling, mind-blowing situations with characters you’ll love. Secretly? I wish I could have the stamina, smarts, passion and drive to reach my goals as they do. Oh, and Henri? Well, she’s just dynamite. Hope we’ll see her in the sequels. Henri, you go girl!

Fabulous Story!

Wow! Amy has given us another tremendous story. She could be a Navy Seal with the details she had in this book! Body Shot is one Hot one. Henry was a female sharp shooter Native American and Mike was a hot Scott working together to fight evil. Their souls collided! Joel Froomkin was a fantastic narrator. I wish I could give them both a ten stars!

excellent

The first book in the series was a 5-star listen, this one is too and so much more. Maybe because Mike picked my interest in book 1, and Mr. Froomkin brought him to life with passion, his Scot brogue is to die for *sigh* his voice is so versatile it was a pleasure to listen. Kept pressing rewind on some scenes :D
Ms. Jarecki pairs Mike, an Alpha male with a warm heart and Henri, a fearless, determined woman and they do get their HEA and the journey is exciting, suspenseful, mixed with some hawt scenes.
This will go onto my relisten list for sure.
I can't wait for book 3!
