Publisher's Summary

The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in a spin-off series from the number-one New York Times best-selling author....

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king's first advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood's training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself...be herself. It's a good plan until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it's very clear that the brother in charge, Butch O'Neal, aka the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that's before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated - and left wondering whether she's strong enough to claim her own power...on the field and off.

BDB Spin Off Does Not Disappoint!

I was skeptical about JR Ward doing a spin off of the BDB series, and was afraid it would be more of a young adult novel due to the main storyline being about a training class. However,
I should've had more faith, this was classic JR Ward all the way, and I loved the spin off!

Blood Kiss does introduce us to some younger characters which is refreshing, but I was happy to see there was a strong presence of some of the original BDB characters including two of my favorite Vishous, and Butch. While the main plot is about Craeg and Paradise, the subplot with Butch and Marissa tied in nicely.

JR Ward is my favorite author! She knows how to write an awesome story that's full of romance, action and surprises.

This story was well worth the credit, and time well spent! I can't wait for the next book in the series. :-)

YES!

I loved this book, truly had the feel of the first books in the series, took you back the start o the first trainees. She explores the psyche of Butch and Marissah. How things in their past has been affecting their behavior in and out of their mating. The new recruits on the scene are dealing with troubles of their own, some have lost their families in the raids and have nothing and no one left. New love is on the bloom or is it, our heroine and leading man are struggling to find their own paths in life. Like most you adults. there is a murder mystery to so and lots and lots of laughter.

Still got it

J.R. Ward has a very particular style of writing and vernacular. While sometimes the use of over the top vernacular and name dropping can get a little wearisome, her stories are always a fun read in my opinion. At least she mixes it up and keeps it interesting! I hope she continues with the BDB Legacy series.

My new favorite BDB book!

I am SO glad I did not listen to the negative reviews I read about this new book! I honestly LOVED this book. This series has gone on for a long time now and I think I burned myself out on it. I never even finished The King yet but have continued with the rest of the series. Blood Kiss is a new, refreshing book that I fell in love with! I love the new characters interacting with the old characters we have grown to love! Craeg and Paradise are amazing and I love the training program. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on more of this new series!!!!!

12/7/15 First Listen
Love me some BDB! This is a new side series in the BDB Series and gives you a nice dose of the brothers along with new characters. I love the new characters too! So glad to see that the BDB World won't be ending anytime soon!

1/12/18 Second Listen
I am re-listening to this series from the beginning now that book 3 is out. I have to say I think I may actually like this book even more the second time. I love how all of the trainees are very different and I really like that there are females in training too. It'd great how much of the BDB world is in this book too. It doesn't feel like a spin off to me, It feels like a BDB book all the way. This book reminds me of the days the boys were first starting their training and that was one of my favorite times in the BDB series.

As always I love Jim Frangione. He will always be the brotherhood to me! What I don't love is that he has changed how he pronounced a lot of things before. I know he was pronouncing them wrong before but after over 10 books it's too late to change IMHO. For example, Xhex will always be ZEX to me and never Hex.

Wow, Again She Does It

I loved this book. She's does it again. She weaves a take that is funny, heart warming and page turning.
The narrator is always good. Love him. Now I'm waiting for the Beast.

Just like old times!!

As a long time fan of Mrs Ward and the Brotherhood I am beyond excited for this new series. It was very good! I can't wait to read about the whole cast and crew! The story pulls you in right away and it quickly becomes impossible to put down. My only complaint is that while I do love all the originals I would have liked for this book to have been more about the new characters. The new and the originals had almost equal screen time.

Great from start to finish

I was a little skeptical about this spin off - but wow was it good. Even though it is set in the same world of BDB it felt so fresh. I love the new characters and can't wait to see what happens next.

BDB are BACK!

The Black Dagger Brotherhood has gotten weird lately. I use to adore their books, but the last one about the Shadows..yeah I couldn't even finish it. I bought this book with the hope that they would get back to basics...and thankfully JR Ward listened. We are back to the fast paced world of the BDB!

Paradise is her fathers only daughter and an aristocratic pure blood according to the Glymera. Her mission in life is suppose to be to throw parties and mingle with the aristocracy until she is formerly matched by her father to a worthy male. Yeah, that's THEIR plan, her plan is to join the Black Dagger Brotherhood training program and fight for her race and become the person she suspects she can be, and it doesn't involve a ball gown!

This story had action, love, adventure and we got a deeper look into Butch and Marissa's relationship, but honestly Paradise held my attention way more. I really hope they keep the books about the next generation coming because I have missed this world.

Marvelous Entry to a New Series

Having followed the Black Dagger Brotherhood series from the very beginning, it seemed only natural for me to start with the spin-off series Black Dagger Legacy. Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s first advisor has already been mentioned in earlier books when she had assumed the position of receptionist where the king would come to hear the issues that surrounded the vampires under his protection here in his realm. Paradise was so ready to break free of the restraints binding her as an aristocratic female she was thrilled when the next training center came around they were letting females join the program. Paradise had been training on her own in the gym thinking she would be able to keep up with others. On the very first day of selection Paradise was faced with the unfathomably difficult tests of strength and survival facing them before they were even selected for the even tougher training program. And all this before she fell in love with a fellow classmate - Craeg - a common civilian who would be nothing her aristocratic father would want for his daughter.

*** As usual the trainers in this series are all members of the Brotherhood with Butch O’Neal, aka at the Dhestroyer in charge. Not only is he having issues with some of the cockier recruits, he is having personal issues in his own life.

Naturally, acts of violence and betrayals are woven into the training where some of the recruits who had lost entire families from the past violence between the Brothers and the Others had signed up not only for training but for vengeance. The action is non-stop except for the simmering attraction between Paradise and Craeg. Of course there are plenty of other sub-plots that Ward weaves into the main theme of BLOOD KISS, with one of them being the search for the rogue vampire who was beating on and killing innocent vampire civilian females.

Bottom line: Intense, fast-paced, sensual, and exciting adventures are all combined to make this new spin-off series by Ms Ward another prime example of an excellent vampiric paranormal read.
