Well written and well read. I listened to it straight through. Original story with enough plot twist to avoid predictability. Great opener for a promising new series.

OMG!!! This book was amazing! I loved the story, as well as the characters. I can't wait for the next one. I hope all of the friends are in it and they get to work together. I was a bit hesitant to get a book from this author because it seems most of her books are for teens. But this book was well written, dark and gritty, without a lot of angst. The only thing about this book that I did not like is that the lead female character takes too much on her shoulders. I understand her motivations but a woman can only sacrifice so much and still exist. Gabra Zackman was great as usual. I have listened to her in other books and I always enjoy her. Buy this book!!!

I was upset when the Shifters series ended, so I am pretty happy that Rachel has started a new series for grown ups!
Story is basically about people with supernatural abilities living in the regular world. Of course there are good guys and bad guys and twists and turns and love interests and friendships. I enjoyed this book all the way through. Its not life alteringly fabulous, but it is great entertainment!
The narration was good as well!

I was hesitant to buy this one because I was so hooked on the Shifter series by Rachel Vincent and did not know if I could really get into something so different. This series took me totally by surprise. This is one of the most original story lines I have come across in a while and it was good. It’s an action packed Urban Fantasy/Paranormal fiction with some hot romance thrown in the mix. This book has it all. Characters you love to love and those characters you love to hate. If you liked the Shifter Series you will like this one although it’s much different, but its go good. I can't wait until my credits are loaded; I am going to get the next installment.

Rachel has an amazing knack for building unique fictional worlds. In a sea of carbon copy urban fantasy series, Blood Bound is a breath of fresh air. Her writing is both multifaceted and brilliant! Overall, Blood Bound is a dark and seductive thrill ride. I found myself getting pulled in the Rachel's Unbound world, and not wanting to leave. I enjoyed untangling the web that is Blood Bound!

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would get rid of the sudden changes in point of view. It happened a lot and was confusing at times.
Would you recommend Blood Bound to your friends? Why or why not?
I would not recommend it. I think there are many stronger series. It was ok, but pretty depressing.
Did Gabra Zackman do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
No, the narrator was ok, but not the best. I found myself speeding up the narration just to get through it.
Do you think Blood Bound needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It does have a follow up book and it leaves a lot hanging unresolved so hopefully the next book rounds it out.

What did you love best about Blood Bound?
The reluctant relationsip between Cam and Liv. The intricacy of the crime families, the people bound to them, and the way each sindicate operates.
What did you like best about this story?
How Ruben is a truly bad man with a little bit of heart left. There are tibits that came out a little bit at a time that were important to the characters and the story.
What about Gabra Zackman’s performance did you like?
The voices were genuine and the women were not histerical or over the top. Everything was just right except Cam's voice should have been stronger, or more masculine.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction, but I did root for the good and the bad guys. For some reason I want(ed) to see Ruben redeemed-or at least see Liv as more than "property". The ending was a bit disconcerting.
Any additional comments?
This was a great book. The world where it takes place is very intricate and well cunstructed. The relationships and events that transpired between the characters (past and present) are interesting and not predictable. There are many unanswered questions between them. They all have ideals and dreams, but are stuck in their lives due to bad decisions and deceit. Can't wait for the next book!

This one really grew on me!
It took me a little while to get into the story. I felt the same way about the Shifters series, like the main characters took some time revealing themselves. The setting is urban with a bit of grit, and there's a bit of a unique system of paranormal powers at play which the author uses very well. Liv really doesn't have a choice about helping her friend, and the powers she wields and the ties that bind her to the case are all wrapped up together with a great big bow. By the end there'd been a good bit of action and romance (similar level to the Shifters series, if that helps), a couple plot twists, and I was very invested in the characters! I'll definitely buy the next books!
Another thing that worked very well -- this story is told alternately from Liv's and Cam's points of view. Kudos to the narrator for pulling that off, since not everybody could! I understand the rest of the books in this series are going to do that too, switching to two different people each time while still following the same broader storyline. I think that's a really interesting idea, and so far, so good.
So yes, this story ends with a lot of unresolved issues! It's not a cliff-hanger ending, but there's plenty of story left to come.
This is also a mafia story with a paranormal romance twist! If I'd known I might have hesistated to buy the book, but I ended up enjoying this even though mafia stories usually put me off. But then this author has never failed to draw me in for a fun read, so I'm not surprised she could get past my usual reservations. The overall ambiance is sort of old school private gumshoe meets paranormal romance meets mafia story.
Overall, recommended! Slow starter but lots of plot, interesting characters in tricky situations, good narration.

I like this author and I love this narrator. The characters in this book were interesting and fully developed. (here comes the "however"..) However, I found the world setting of the story to be terribly depressing. Bleak. Violent and cruel. Maybe it's just me, weird mood or something, but wow.... don't read this is you are at all depressed or suicidal. Fortunately, this did not prevent me from listening to the very end and being glad that I did.
I couldn't tell if this book is to be a stand-alone or the start of a series, could go either way. If this author does write another book about this world I'll snap it up in an instant to see what happens next. Maybe the protagonists will have it a bit better next time.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, provided they enjoy "paranormal" book styles. It is certainly no more far fetched than vampires and werewolves, but Rachel Vincent has gone one step further than the standard paranormal fiction by inventing a new style of paranormal ability rather than basing the book around traditional creatures.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I didn't have a favourite character as such. I enjoyed the interplay between the main two characters, and the book left me wanting to know more about some of the other major characters (which I understand will happen in future books).
Have you listened to any of Gabra Zackman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I haven't listened to her before. When I listened to the "test" listen before buying, I was actually put off by the narrator. She sounded rather flat and seemed to lack something, and I nearly didn't buy the book, but I love Rachel Vincent's books and once I began listening to the book I found that Gabra's narration actually suited the tone of the book and was much better than I initially thought. She also did a good job of distinguishing between the two main characters, as each character takes it in turns "narrating" a chapter and this could get confusing without differences in the narration.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
