Publisher's summary

Can a love shattered by the sands of time...rise beyond the waves?

Taysia Green nearly chokes on her water when Officer Kylen Sumner shows up in her office claiming he's back in town because he loves her. Since he's broken her heart more than once, and she recently started dating youth pastor Blaine Pittman, she wants absolutely nothing to do with Kylen. But he's been asked to stand in as the mediator between Taysia and wannabe model Sophia Clinesmith, who twisted her ankle in the parking lot of Taysia's business and is threatening a lawsuit.

If she didn't need him to help save her gym, Taysia would tell Kylen to take a long midnight walk on a short cliffside trail.

She's perfectly happy with her life just the way it is.

So why is it that just the sight of Kylen Sumner sets her traitorous heart to dancing faster than it did the time Blaine kissed her?

A sweet story about second chances

Would you listen to Beyond the Waves again? Why?

Yes. It was a very enjoyable story and the narrator did a very good job of pulling you into the story and keeping you interested. It's also handy to be able to listen to a book if you need to get things done.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked Kylen. I enjoyed how he wooed Taysia. It was so sweet. He just came across as a really nice guy.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved all the gifts Ky gave Taysia. She tried to play it down but she found herself rushing home each day to see what he left for her. It was a lot of fun.

Any additional comments?

The story is sweet, the narration is great and I definitely recommend it.

Love this series

This is not the first time I've read this book but it is the first time I've listened to it. The narrator did a good job.

I forget everything that is behind me and look forward to that which is ahead of me.

One More Chance

Beyond the Waves was an easy listen while driving! Taysia has built a good life as owner of Mom's Gym when her old boyfriend, Kylen, moves back to town. Taysia has to decide whether to stick to her current boyfriend or give Kylen another chance. Taysia's midnight "intruder" added much humor to the story! I recommend Beyond the Waves to anyone who wants a light romance. I listened to the audio book and enjoyed it.

Will forgiveness lead to love...?

Beyond The Waves is a sweet, lovely romance set on the Pacific coast. Taysia and Kylen are two very flawed characters who have made some big mistakes in the past but with faith in God are trying to put the past behind and make something of the future. The question is can they find forgiveness and make a future together? Lynnette Bonner is a talented author who can write both historical and contemporary romances equally as well.

I listened to the Audible edition of this book and really enjoyed it. The narration was good, the voice drawing me further and further into the story. I kept finding every excuse to sneak back to my Kindle and listen for awhile. An overall enjoyable listen.

(I received this audiobook from the author in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)

Another great book by Lynnette Bonner!

What made the experience of listening to Beyond the Waves the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed Becky Doughty's reading of Lynnette's book. She made the characters and their emotions come to life.

What did you like best about this story?

I truly loved the real issues and situations these people got into, but with the Lord they worked them, in a real way. Sometimes it was hard and people were hurt, but that's true in life and it was great seeing it not glossed over in this book.

What does Becky Doughty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her inflections and tones of the emotions of each character.

Any additional comments?

Another great book by Lynnette Bonner. Beyond the Waves was a sweet, romantic story that had some hard hitting issues the characters had to deal with. I thought Lynnette wrote it in a believable and endearing way. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and I would recommend this book to anyone.

Great Romance

Would you consider the audio edition of Beyond the Waves to be better than the print version?

I didn't buy the print version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beyond the Waves?

I don't like spoilers in reviews so I won't answer this one. There were many scenes that I remember from this novel :)

Which character – as performed by Becky Doughty – was your favorite?

She did a great job with all of them I could see each character clearly, I will say the male voices were done very well.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'm not sure but this was a good clean read that romance readers would enjoy. It went by fast and I didn't want to turn it off. I love a good romance and Mrs. Bonner has dine it again.

Any additional comments?

I think this would make a great movie, you should listen to the sample and I think you will be hooked.

A nice, clean story that I enjoyed quite a bit!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend because it was engaging from the beginning, and had storyline elements that appealed to me, as a woman -- pregnancy (former Lamaze teacher here), falling in love, tension having to do with dating, past betrayals and looking to heal those hurts and move on.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Beyond the Waves?

I really enjoyed the part in the book (no spoilers, going to be vague here) where one of the side characters was poised to make a really difficult and possibly damaging decision, and I was glad to see how the author worked that problem out with a realistic solution for all involved. I also appreciated how the h's mistrust didn't just magically go away, but that she had to work through it with fits and starts and setbacks.

What does Becky Doughty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I felt the author did a good job letting us see/watch the characters' mental struggles without just telling us "she's this way and he's that way", but we got to see how they were via their actions and dialogues. There were some times when I wanted to shake the h, when she kept her erstwhile boyfriend on the hook while she tried to make up her other mind, but I enjoyed how our author smoothed that situation out in a way that didn't leave any question in the reader's mind.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Our narrator did a good job with the voice-differentiation, I felt. Sometimes I wished she'd read just a LITTLE bit faster, but I appreciated the emotion that was displayed by her inflections as she read.

Any additional comments?

This is an enjoyable, clean romance that I would read / listen-to again!

Sappy & unrealistic

Unable to sympathize with the main character, Anastasia. No real story line—just all relational angst.....blah blah blah....
