Publisher's summary

A tale of love won and love lost and the faith to find it again.

From the banks of the Potomac to the misty moors of England, Darcy follows a path where the secrets of the past slowly rise to the surface in this dramatic saga that began in Before the Scarlet Dawn. She meets Ethan Brennan, an aspiring English horse breeder who embraces her independent spirit and marvels at the simplicity of her faith. Ethan and Darcy fall in love but are kept apart by a promise to another and a sworn oath to a dying woman whose long-hidden secret threatens Darcy's and Ethan's lives.

wonderful!

The second in the Daughter's of the Potomac series was just as good as the first! Well written! On par with Jane Austin! Looking forward to the third story in the series! Well done, Rita Gerlach!

Old concept

Too cliche, author sounds like she is a 13 year old girl (maybe it was). I’m not saying this mean spirited, but I want to be clear with my review. Written grammatically correct, however this makes the story very hard to listen to. I like the mystery aspect and I want to find out what happens but not sure if I can stick it out till the end.

Book 2 of 3

Enjoyed this book the most of the 3! Clean & well written. Author recognizes how they trusted in God in their difficult times.

Christian Historical Romance

Like the first book, this one takes place in both America and England. I enjoyed this story despite the grief and pain so many suffered through! I was on pins and needles most of the story wondering how it would work out! Yet, God restores and reconciles the lost! But, not every promise is fulfilled on the earth, some of God's promises must wait until eternity!
Another amazing narration! The combination of an incredible story and a great narrator make for a most wonderful experience!

Good cliff hangers

Overall it was a good story. it kept my attention til the end. I know that times were hard back then and sometimes cruel, however this story had too much death for me. Although the ending was a happy one, there were still a lot of loose ends left unanswered. The mean uncle for instance. We never find out what his real deal was. The nice uncle that loved his mother. What was the grandmother's secrets and so on.

Not as interesting as Book 1 in the series

Narrator us so-so.
Story drags on and on in the beginning then rushes through events you've waited and waited for.
