Publisher's summary

Determined to find a husband, Miss Eleanor "Nell" Bowman attends a ball put on by the Duchess of Greycliffe, fondly referred to as the Duchess of Love. But she roundly dismisses the suitors the matchmaking hostess has invited on her behalf. For it's the duchess' dashing son Ned, Lord Edward, who long ago captured Nell's heart - and roused her desire. All it takes is a pair of conveniently misplaced silky red bloomers to set the handsome widower's gaze on this unusual girl who is clearly more than meets the eye.

After more than a year of mourning, Ned longs to finally start anew. At first glance, the birthday ball his mother has thrown in his honor is decidedly lacking in suitable mistresses. But he senses something unexpectedly alluring beneath the veil of Nell's plain exterior - something she's anxious to reveal, and the lonely Lord is incapable of denying.

Clever story

I fully enjoyed the "naked" series so was excited to start the new "duchess of love" series. I was entertained the entire story. Sally Mac Kenzie is a clever, witty writer and Abby Craden in excellent in narration. Truly worth listening!

Good read

Would you consider the audio edition of Bedding Lord Ned to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version so I can't compare.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Reggie the cat comes first then the Duke and Duchess. They had more action going on than or main characters. If only our author had decided to give Ned and Ellie some more action, kisses even would have helped. I was at more than one time wanting to put this book down because I was so disappointed!

What does Abby Craden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nothing, she did a good narration job and I liked her character voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes all of the scenes when Reggie seems to always have the damn red draws!

Any additional comments?

Hopefully there is a book about Ash and his wife and we can get more action from them than we did with this book.

Terrible narrator

Would you try another book from Sally MacKenzie and/or Abby Craden?

The narrator was so poor it was a strain to listen to the story. The storyline was slow and very predictable. I will avoid this narrator in future as well as the author.

Very fun listen with barely any bedding...

Ok so let me start by saying that this was a very fun listen. It felt like the storyline was different and original and Reggie the cat had me laughing a few times. Many things happen and the secondary characters were as interesting as the main couple. That said, I wouldn't really say this is a romance book. I actually find the title rather ironic. This book is almost ten hours long and the whole romance and FINALLY the bedding of Lord Ned happens in the last thirty minutes of the story. Before the last 30 minutes nothing in the romance department happens, not even a peck on the cheek. I kept thinking whether the bedding would ever happen or if the author was going to leave that to our imagination.

So if you are looking for a romance book that centers on that romance's development and that has several romantic moments then this is not the book for you. This book appeals more for people who are looking for a light romance with barely any sex but at the same time is very fun and interesting.

I really enjoyed the narration. Miss Craden made some interesting voices that made each character unique. I believe she added to the story by making if funny and upbeat. I would listen to more books narrated by Ms. Craden. I won't continue the series though because I like my books with more romance and spice.

Stupid + tedious

I should have known that when one of the main characters is a cat named Reggie, that this was not going to end well....
The heroine was so passive and I just couldn't find any interest in what happened to her. The author keeps writing in useless details and the heroine trips on her own feet 9 times. that seems a lot for a normal person over the course of a few days. If I was the hero I would run, as there children would be the least coordinated people in England!
The heroine is weak and spineless ...the hero is oblivious, and everyone even the cat is trying to get them together. Is there any wonder when they actually do?
The real problem is that there is too much internal dialogue. A character says something and then 3 minutes ( yes I timed it) there is a response from the other character. This makes the story very slow moving. This coupled with 2 boring characters is just tedious.
I read some of the other reviews, but really can't agree. The story is just too predictable. The opening lines are just like Julie Garwood, and this seems like a lesser copy of one of her books.
I would recommend rereading a book I like, instead of reading this one. I am so glad I got it as part of the Romance Package, so nothing wasted but time.

Nothing

Did not finish it. Too long too boring to repetitive. The prequel was short to the point and engaging. This was a big disappointment.

Red for Love, happiness, tricks and Reggie!

This was a light, funny enjoyable listen, offering enough of a storyline to keep the audience engaged and anticipating the next story.
Great narrator! I truly loved the way the narrator had different voices for all the characters. Humphrey’s was so hilarious! I’m happy Ned and Ellie found their way in the end.

2nd Chance at Love

A wonderful book! I have read the series before and wanted too again! Ellie has loved Ned since she was a child. She watched as her best friend married him and she was there to help in his grieve when she and their child died.

Years later his mother the Duchess of Love is holding her annual ball for her and her sons birthday. This year she was going to open Neds eyes to Ellie!! A beautifully written book! Abby Craden did a fabulous job as the narrator.

Fun and farcical!

This is a reread of a fun and sometimes silly romantic comedy set back in time. Laughed as much this time as when I first read it

Great start to series.

Narrator was wonderful. No problem distinguishing the different characters. Only reason story didn't get 5 stars is because there weren't any hot sex scenes until the end of the book.
