Publisher's summary

Past and present intertwine with light and dark to tell a story...because of him

Something inside me fiercely craves normal.

Sheltered all my life and taught to be afraid, I want to be bold, fearless.

Up until now, I've kept myself and my heart safe. Tade Astor, a guy so hot he steals my breath away, jeopardizes it all.

He isn't the kind of guy to give up on what he wants - me.

He's determined to prove my safe world is missing something - him.

Even though he may not be the cocky guy I assumed him to be....

He's definitely not the guy I should give my heart to.

But each time I see him, he becomes harder to resist.

I want to be brave and give him a chance...though it might come back to haunt me.

At the heart of Because of Him is a love story. But due to certain sensitive topics, it might not be suitable for all listeners. If you need a trigger warning, this may not be the book for you.

❤️

Wow this story was written beautifully! This is my first book by Terri E. Lame but most definitely not my last. The narrators Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon did a phenomenal job on this story 👍🏽.

Oh My!!!!!

I loved the narrators very much but these dark romances are sometimes so emotional with sensitive subject matters. I did enjoy it but there were times l had to skip ahead due to the storyline but I did go back reluctantly. but surprised. Some of the reviews hinted at the darkness but it was a romance between individuals that endured a lot. I prefer lighter and funnier story lines. But because the narration was so very good and Erin Mallon is #1, I had to rate this one at least 4 stars. Jason Clarke is one of my favorite narrators too. Not for the light hearted but this was an absolute romance between good characters considering the sensitive subject matter.

Couldn't stop listening!

Butterflies in my stomach-- a phrase used often in this book is exactly what reading this story left me with. Terri E. Laine has woven an incredibly poignant story of tragedy and love. Tade and Reagan's story grasped me from the first chapter and didn't let go until the very last word. Melding suspense, horror and mystery with chapters from the past and a growing relationship in the present, Laine seamless weaves this book with darkness and light. One of the intriguing factors for me is the supporting cast of characters, Gavin, Megan, Reagan's parents, Tade's parents and Kyle. They help acquaint you with the issues Tade and Reagan are facing. Though I had my guesses how the story would turn out, the many twists and turns kept me guessing until the end. With it's full set of emotions, the book will stay with you long after you finish.

The narration team of Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke is phenomenal with this story. Their ability to emote and make you feel what the characters do is a craft that is not easy to match. Loved it.

wow and wow

this story is one of the rare books that sticks with you even after you have read it. it has compasion empathy and all emotions are somehow interwinde. love fear compasion . i love how the story has mix of past and present which doesnt break the flow of the story. it is perfectly timed and has you attention throughout. during the story i was thinking who the past was and was changing my opinion to the very end. and this just shows how good the story is really written. the story is different and appealig. the narration is just right and the changes in the voices are very good. overall story that will shake you and will stay with you long after you read it.

A dark suspenseful NA romance

I went into this blind. Only warning I have is that it has some dark elements which did not deter me because I love the narrators.

Love the suspense as the story developed and some revelations that I didn’t see coming. I am constantly amazed at the range that Erin does and this book really tested her. I could differentiate all the difference between the characters she portrayed in the story. Jason portrayed of Tade was on pointe and you can feel how conflicted he was for keeping so many secrets.

The story can drag at times and I wish the friendship between Gavin and Tade was more flashed out. Overall I really enjoyed the audiobook.

Intense!

I am on the fence about this one. It’s very emotional and intense. The back story is disturbing in so many ways and I just didn’t want to find myself In this world in a romance novel. This book was it an escape it was like an extended episodes of law and order svu.

Narrators were excellent - Erin Mallon is one of the best!
