Publisher's summary

Jilted at the alter and insulted by her own family, Courtney is forced to move out and struggle...all because she was "plain".

If the shame of being jilted just before the marriage vows was not enough, the fact that her own family would not support her had driven Courtney to the depths of depression.

So she moved out of the family home, and finally when she was on her lowest ebb, she decided she would sell the engagement ring that now meant nothing. A chance encounter at the jewelers brings her into contact with the NFL star running back...and whole new world.

A world where appearances were everything.

Love where you least expect it

Daphne Young did an excellent performance of this book.
Although growing up in an atmosphere similar to that between Courtney and her sister it was great to realize that Clint liked/loved Courtney for who she was. It seemed as though the ugly duckling had grown into a beautiful swan.

a nice short bwwm romance story!

I wish this story was a little longer. The lead lady chooses to concentrate on developing (the inside) her mind & soul with books/stories and less on the superfical outside of herself. Her family and society judges females on appearances. Men can be butt ugly in a couple situation while the lady must be "attractive" BUT society doesn't accept the male in a couple to be handsome matched with a female the "looks" plain or unattractive.. The two main characters are jilted by their loved ones around the same time and find each other & thei mutual love of books exciting. But, in the end she gives in to society pressure & dolls up for him. Which makes society happy and accepts their pairing..
