Publisher's summary

Jillian Milzner has lived a life on the run. Her biological sperm donor has made it clear he wishes she'd never been born. Most kids get presents from their dads growing up. He sent thugs to make death threats to ensure she never tries to find him. He needn't have bothered, since she wants nothing to do with Decon Filmore. His father, however, thinks Jill might be useful. Things go from bad to worse when her grandfather's goons snatch her up to deliver her to a man both terrifying...and straight out of her sexiest daydreams.

Lord Aveoth isn't surprised to hear from Decker Filmore. The man is desperate to make the GarLycan lord call off the hunt for his life, and equally determined to reclaim his VampLycan clan. To achieve both goals, he'll offer Aveoth yet another half-human granddaughter from his bloodline.

It's lonely being a lord of a clan, so Aveoth agrees to the meeting - and he's instantly attracted to Jill. He's also angry to learn she's been brought to him against her will, but he still wants to keep her. Even if it exposes his darkest secret...which could tear his clan apart.

5 Aveoth Stars

I found myself smiling and chuckling all throughout this book. I have loved each book in this series but I think this might very well be my favorite.

Aveoth is unlike any of the other characters he is witty well so are some of the others we have encountered I just found him to be amusing.

Jillian is a spunky character and I really enjoyed her from the very beginning and her nick names are fantastic! HAHA to amusing for words. She made me laugh and smile so much and the two of them together magic! :)

I am on to the next book I can’t wait!

Also Savannah Richards is amazing her performance it fabulous!!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I Want Adventures in the Bat Cave!!

Mmmmmm.......Aveoth. I found him intriguing from the moment he arrived on the scene. He's dark, mysterious, gorgeous, dangerous and has a soft side he must hide from his own people. His compassion in the previous books had me hoping he would find his mate. Jill is SO that woman. She is one of the coolest heroines ever. She doesn't really have one bad quality or annoying baggage item that needs to be cleared up before she can move on or any of the usual heroine stuff that creates angst (not that there's anything wrong with that when done in moderation). She's just made for him. So far, this is my favorite in the series, but we'll see what Creed brings to the table before I settle on that.

(If you are on the fence about this series: I held Drantos in my wish list for about six months because of reviews that were less than stellar. As someone who has written a few reviews when having a bad day, I know that occasional unfair reviewing happens.....I owe a few apologies. I am SO GLAD I decided to ignore the early "meh" reviews and started this series. I think the popularity of the New Species series may have unfairly hurt this one a bit in the beginning, but if you loved New Species, I really think you will love this one too. While the worlds are different, they are equally awesome, in that the men are loyal, protective and off-the-charts hot. THIS book and the next one -which I'm starting as soon as I hit enter on this review- were highly-anticipated pre-orders if that clues you in to the awesomeness of this series.)

Savannah Richards is wonderful, as usual. That fence I was on for 6 months? She was the wind that finally tipped me over it. Her performance is always awesome, and you are always guaranteed a great listen whenever her name follows "Narrated by: "

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

Still loving this series but I'll admit I was hoping for a little more for Aveoth. He has been a big help to the others and always a generally good guy who everyone is afraid of so I just wanted his story to blow me away and it didn't. It was still good and I loved learning more about him and about the GarLycans.

Narration was great as always!

Jill is a HEADACHE😒

This was the book I was waiting for... And it bothers me so badly that I don’t even think I can finish it😔 The lead woman in this one made my head hurt within the first 15 minutes of the story! She is so annoying and unbelievable that I have had a hard continuing into listen. Who repeatedly insults her kidnappers? Who offers sex in exchange to watch said kidnappers get beat up? I actually stopped listening and started a whole new series. Listened to 2 books by a completely new author and then attempted to come back to this story. And here I am stopping AGAIN to write a review. I don’t know if I can finish this one. I’m honestly considering getting a refund for my credit. Which is unfortunate since I’ve been listening to this series since the beginning with Drantos. Sigh. I don’t know what happened but can I repeat that Aveoth’s story was the one that I was most looking forward to! I’m so disappointed. There’s a difference between a strong woman and an annoyingly stupid woman. Jill comes off as annoying, she has a plethora of insults just waiting to be used. And again what strong woman offers sex so willingly to a complete stranger? A stranger that’s not even human no less, within minutes of being unwillingly brought to him? I’m just so disappointed with this one. 😔😑

“Alpha” is really rather submissive to witchy “heroine”

YAWN
I was looking forward to Aveoth’s story. Mind numbing, ridiculous back and forth dialogue. Dohner really, really tries to create issues to be resolved...yawn.
My eyes are sore from rolling. In the previous books Aveoth is portrayed as the big bad one...yeah, nope. Jill is ridiculous. I couldn’t see any reason for Aveoth to be smitten...and yet..all it takes is for Jill to witch off and he is wrapped around her finger.

heroine was too obnoxious

I love LD books, new species series is my favorite. Unfortunately LD continues to overdo dialogue to create and/or validate characters personalities. This can be somewhat overlooked when the heroine is sweet or docile, or generally nice however, LD in my opinion overstated Jill's (heroine) sarcasm to the point Jill just read as extremely insensitive, obnoxious and unlikable even after she softened towards the end. It just didn't seem plausible that Lord Aveoth would even bother with let alone mate such an obnoxious jerk like Jill. It became a huge distraction and made the book not so enjoyable.

Let's make deal.

Jill was hard at work when two creeps walked into her shop & snatched her away to be a bargaining chip with a big scary guy who spouted wings. If those jerks thought she'd just go quietly; they had another thing coming.

Lord Aveoth was tried, frustrated & lonely. Dekker calls with an impossible trade...his last granddaughter for his clan. Aveoth is furious but wants the woman out of the equation.

Between Dekkers croonies, prejudicd full-blood gargolyes and a deadly secret survival is doubtful but fate may have something else in mind.

Annoying

I couldn't make it past chapter 4, it annoyed the hell out of me.
The main character, Jill, comes off as total bitch who doesn't think before she blurts out criticisim.
It also seems like a book made for younger teens. For example...Jill has a hard time holding back from licking this crazy hot otherworldly man however, instead of acting on it she pushes him off her and says she doesn't want his bat babies. Buzz kill.
Reminds me of the stories I read when I was thirteen where the only thing that holds your interest is the chance that the main character might actually listen to her inner urge and screw the guys brains out...but you're made to wait till almost the end of the book because there's nothing else to keep you entertained in the meantime.
