Publisher's summary

With wings of midnight and an affinity for shadows, Jason courts darkness. But now, with the Archangel Neha's consort lying murdered in the jewel-studded palace that was his prison and her rage threatening cataclysmic devastation, Jason steps into the light, knowing he must unearth the murderer before it is too late.

Earning Neha's trust comes at a price - Jason must tie himself to her bloodline through the Princess Mahiya, a woman with secrets so dangerous, she trusts no one. Least of all an enemy spymaster.

With only their relentless hunt for a violent, intelligent killer to unite them, Jason and Mahiya embark on a quest that leads to a centuries-old nightmare... and to the dark storm of an unexpected passion that threatens to drench them both in blood.

A good addition to the series

This is one of those books that you need to start with the first in the series, and go from there. It continues from the previous book, and still has some of Dimitri's story in it, as well as a continuation as to what is happening with the Cauldre.
The main story is about Jason, one of Raphael's seven. We get a good understanding of his beginnings and why he is so good at his job.
I like that this series has branched out with the 'seven's' stories, as the books, so far, have been very good.
The narration could be better. The men all sound the same, as do the women, in somewhat of an irritating voice. But, it is bearable

This narrator is HORRIBLE

What made the experience of listening to Archangel's Storm the most enjoyable?

I enjoy Ms Singh's story telling.

How could the performance have been better?

The voices this narrator uses for characters are AWFUL. I can't understand her half the time and have to back up.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No...I am having a hard time finishing it because of the narration.

Guild Hunter Book 5- YES!

Definitely a fitting story for Jason & Mahiya. It starts with Dmitri & Honor's wedding; ends with Jason's song for his Mahiya. The center unfurls both of their individual story lines with their parentage and how special were their school years in the Refuge. As always, Eyre's voice fits the story exceedingly well.

Great!

This one is perheaps my favorite in a guild hunter series. Story of Jason the spy master is wonderfully written. Story quickly pulls you in and you find yourself at the edge of your seat until the very end. and the last couple of sentences are worth the credit. Nalini Singh is master of her craft and Justine Eyre is wonderful reader.

BRILLIANT ADDITION TO AN OUTSTANDING SERIES

If you're a Paranormal/Romance fan and you haven't already discovered the world of the Archangels then oh boy you really are missing something FANTASTIC with this series and I suggest you start by downloading book 1.

But, for those of us N.S. junkies who are now looking at this, the 5th of her books, then this one really doesn't disappoint - it's got all the usual elements you come to expect from her such as great writing, a mystical world of dark brooding handsome Archangels, vampires and Hunters, good plot and sub plots all nicely tied up in a touching romance.

I've been on her website but I can't see another Guild Hunter due to be released anytime which I am devastated about - so a note to Ms Singh - please, please, please can we have the next Archangel story and soon.

Worth a credit? Err that would be a YES.

Nalini, you are the best!

Beautiful! This story gives us more insight into the Guild Hunter world Singh has created. The events in this book pick up almost immediately after the last book. We are treated with updates regarding the other characters in the series and more importantly, we are gifted with an intimate look into Jason and his complex and alluring personality. This novel builds upon the foundation for greater events to unfurl, so I can understand how many readers would find this installment slow. I found the main H/h and the story presented to be in perfect balance and I just love how Singh's novels can make my heart swell and my blood rush at the same time.

Narrator: Justine Eyre
Performance: 5 out of 5
I like that the same narrator is reading all the books. Eyre does a great job with the voices

Enjoyable but left me wanting; Eyre too dramatic

What was one of the most memorable moments of Archangel's Storm?

The imagery used to describe Mahiya's unique peacock-like wings.

What three words best describe Justine Eyre’s voice?

Justine Eyre's performance was too wavering in pitch and melodramatic for my preferences. Although I love Nalini Singh's writing, I find her style of prose a little overwrought for my preferences, and so would prefer a subtler narrator to counteract that. Justine Eyre's style of narrating bothered me for the previous audiobooks, but I REALLY didn't want to re-listen this one. I'd rather read the book, where I can tone down the inflections with my mental voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, although I enjoyed the book, and Nalini Singh is great at what she does, since I have such high expectations for her, I was left wanting just a little more (i) character development (I never really feel like I got to know the hero, Jason), (ii) overarching plot development, and (iii) romantic development.
