Bad Narration

This narrator reads like a 13 year old would. She makes the characters seem like idiots. She over-exaggerates everything they say and all the characters sound like petulant children. Have you ever watched anime where the characters talk really fast and the energy doesn't match what they're saying? That's what this is. It's really takes away from the story.

Fantastic!!

In Apt 2B you will wonder if Sydney is crazy or...maybe it is just her world. But, either way, you will find that love just might be able to make a difference in a hard childhood. The storyline is very good, a bit more graphic at times than I care to listen to, but with Meghan Kelly doing the narration, I listened to every single word. I hated the beginning...because it hurt my heart for someone to be so hurt...but I fell in love with the main characters from the start. Meghan Kelly continues to be one of my favorite narrators because she brings to life the characters, and the narration of the story is told in such a way that I feel I am a fly on the wall watching everything going on. It just doesn't matter if she is voicing for men or women, you know...with their voice...who is who. That is talent I have found with only a few narrators. Plug in and listen...you won't be disappointed!!

Very creepy

This is a hard review to write, because I had strong reactions, not alway very comfortable. But I think that discomfort was by design. Everything about this book was creepy. The characters, the tone, the narrator, the sex. Sydney was a difficult character for me to relate to. She was a strange mix of childlike and sexual, and it didn't always sit well with me. That said, I think the author may have intended for her to come across that way, so I respect the writing tremendously. I sort of figured out Liam's deal early on, but that didn't detract at all for me.

Three things sort of pulled me out of the story. First, the narrator mispronounced some words, and it drove me nuts. Broody and brooding. Chaste. The second thing were the two cases of insta-love. I don't think enough chemistry existed between the characters to really sell me on the relationships. The third thing was the present tense POV. I get why the author wrote it that way, and it did add to the creepiness of the tone, but it was hard to listen to.

There was also something that Lane did in the graveyard that made me hate him. Then I hated Sydney for glossing over it. It sort of ruined some of the story for me.

All that said, I respect the writing and the concept enough to give this book four stars.

Horror plus romance story

I could have gone without all the erotic scenes, I started fast forwarding through them as they got old soon. Also, If you have a weak stomach this book is not for you.
Aside from that I really liked the mix of horror and romance in this story.
Meghan the narrator was as always spectacular. I really liked the ending, made me tear up.

Disappointed

This story could've been so much better!! I did like the unexpected twist though, pretty creative.

Dark and Romantic

What did you love best about Apartment 2B?

This story is about a young girl named Sidney that grows up with her mother abusing her. Her mother passes away and she has to cope with all the people that are around her and should let them in her life. Liam is Sidney's neighbor in her new apartment. He's very closed off from others since losing his parents too. I really liked this book very much, it's an awesome story and I highly recommend it.

What did you like best about this story?

The plot is twisted, emotional, passionate, unexpected... various feelings all over the place. All in all the book is wonderful and if you want to read a beautiful standalone romance novel, with somewhat of darkness in it, then Apartment 2B may be just what you're looking for.

What about Meghan Kelly’s performance did you like?

I am a huge fan of Meghan Kelly and I really love her performances in every book. This one though, was different from the others, I think it suits her deep voice, all dark and mysterious.
Meghan Kelly brings life to the characters and adds 'the feeling' to the books she narrates.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Things are sometimes BETTER in the DARK....

Good but predictable

I was given this book in exchange for a review.
That said, it was a fun read. I did enjoy the story. Simple but fun.
The story is about a Woman that has come from a damaging past amd learns to open up to the possibility of love and allowing someone into her life.
I think aome parts are not developed enough and some are overstated but overall, worth the patience to get to the end.
The narrator is easy to understand and makes it clear each character that is speaking.
I thought it is worth the time to read.

Good effort

You can definitely tell this is an older story for K. Webster and an early in Meghan Kelly's narration career. None of it was bad. It just isn't what I'm used too from either of them. The story was a great idea. I think it could have been tightened up a bit... again, good.

THIS WAS A GREAT STORY!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Apartment 2B to be better than the print version?

I only listened....but it always is!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Apartment 2B?

Oh there were many, but Sidney stole my heart when she went to apply for the job at the apartments....she was so desperate and broken....I bonded with her right then and there....

Which character – as performed by Meghan Kelly – was your favorite?

Sidney....but second was Liam....The narration is really good...

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This would make a great movie....it has a little of everything...

Any additional comments?

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! THIS IS A GREAT STORY!

**SPOILERS**

I was saddened for Sidney, she was very abused, both mentally and physically by her mother, very sheltered, and under educated....basically was taught she was nothing, that she deserved nothing...that she was unclean, and bad! If I hadn't thought clean mama was horrible enough, I about died when I found out about nurse mama...Such a sad beginning for this poor girl....it broke my heart! She couldn't even stand to be touched by anyone...she would faint, or scratch herself raw, and could only take cold showers because of the abuse she had endured, and had scars all over her body....my heart just went out to her....

When Sidney's mom suddenly dies...she feels free...but then has to support herself. She has little education and has to find a job quickly. She finds one as a caretaker at a rundown apartment complex that gives her room and board and a small salary...she just has to cook and clean and watch over an elderly lady...Sidney meets a handsome stranger living next door to her and she slowly comes to life....Little does she know, that this stranger is really a ghost I was like WHAT? when I found this out...well he has to leave Sidney, and she is devastated! His Twin Brother comes into the picture and when Sidney meets him she is overwhelmed..well she has to convince Lane, that she knew his brother Liam, and he just thinks she is nuts...well in my opinion Liam set these 2 up on purpose knowing that together they would heal each other...This is a dark story with a great HEA and it was narrated quite well by Meghan....and I recommend it! Well worth your time and a credit!!!!

a real love story...

I received this audio book as a gift in exchange for a honest and unbiased review. This is a great story! It starts with a background of child abuse and ends up as a love story in a paranormal way. It is very enjoyable and had me glued to my seat listening to this book. I read it in one sitting and it is almost 2 am as I write this review. I loved the ending (epilogue) too!

The author, K Webster did a fantastic job writing this story. The plot is just awesome! I was floored by this book. My advice for people who didn't finish reading it, is try it again. Give it a chance and you will see it is a great story too! If you like the movie "Ghost", you will love this book! The narrator, Meghan Kelly did a fantastic job with the delivery of this story! The multiple voices, accents, emotions - they are all there. I am really impressed with this book!
