Publisher's Summary

Been there. Done that. Evy Stone is a former Dreg Bounty Hunter who died and came back to life with some extraordinary powers. Now all but five people in the world think she is dead again, this time for good - immolated in a factory fire set specifically for her. Evy and Wyatt, her partner/lover/friend, can no longer trust their former allies, or even the highest echelons of the Triads - the army of fighters holding back from an unsuspecting public a tide of quarreling, otherworldly creatures. They can trust only each other, because when the Triads raided a macabre, monster-filled lab of science experiments and hauled away the remnants, they failed to capture their creator: a brilliant, vampire-obsessed scientist with a wealth of powerful, anti-Dreg weaponry to trade for what he desires most of all: Evy Stone, alive and well, and the key to his ultimate experiment in mad science.

The Best Yet But Brace Yourself

The third book in the Dreg City series is an intense and visceral ride with well-written action scenes and a tremendous amount of tension that builds as we watch events play tug-of-war with Evy and Wyatt’s relationship. The author has done an outstanding job of creating layered characters who reveal themselves gradually and who grow based on events in each book. It is difficult for the listener not to feel as if they know them and have a stake in their continued survival and eventual happiness. Because Evy and Wyatt are constructed with human flaws, their struggles resonate and Evy has a LOT to overcome in this book. There are events int his book that aren't for the squeamish but the payoff at the end is significant.

The narration in this one is excellent. The characters are all given unique voices, the action scenes are relayed with a strong but not overdone dose of vocal tension, and there are several painful or down-right creepy scenes that had me flinching away from the speakers. The narrator seems to have completely assimilated these characters and portrays them in a way that more than met my expectations.

Immediate MUST Buy list!

I have very few authors I have on my "go to" list, but Kelly Meding just joined my group. Evy is a well rounded character, as are her co-characters. The story lines are interesting enough that I have spent more than one night into the wee hours reading (and suffering for it the next morning --- yawn ---) but every minute is worth it. Plotting is smooth, the story line is fast paced and interesting. I am reading every one of Kelly's 'Evy' books, and will be watching for more from this writer.

Krop Circle Book Reviews

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It was a very good story all the way through. The reader was excellent and breathed in a beautiful soul that drove the authors characters to live within a realm that makes you forget it was fiction.

James...

What did you like best about this story?

The mix of the supernaturals within the story that does't overwhelm their particular races.

What does Xe Sands bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

A soul...

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A masterpeice of balance between supernaturals and the mundane of earth.

Any additional comments?

Love this series

Great narration. I like to list this first as it can make or break a story.

Love stories with kick ass chicks.

I really enjoy it when readers with similar reading interests list their favourite authors and series. It really helps me find new authors too follow. Mine are Charlaine Harris, Jeaniene Frost, Jennifer Estep, Faith Hunter, Molly Harper, Ilona Andrews, Kresley Cole, Deborah Harkness, Nalini Singh, Coreene Callahan, Stacia Kane, Kelly Medding and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Happy Reading
