Publisher's Summary

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she is the best - but she does not know if even she is good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, Elena knows failure is not an option - even if the task is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other - and pull her to the razor's edge of passion. Even if the hunt does not destroy her, succumbing to Raphael's seductive touch just might. For when archangels play, mortals break.

I'm a 30-something paranormal, mystery, and humor enthusiast. For me, the main character is the most important part of a book.

    "Sinfully Delicious!"

I tend to like more Urban Fantasy than PNR, but this was just extra tasty. Raphael was so scrumptious. I loved the bad ass angels, Elena was fierce and the side characters were great too. I have already bought the next three in the series

"Ahh I'm enthralled :) And I want wings now."
Would you listen to Angels' Blood again? Why?

Would I relisten? Hell yes! I absolutely loved how independent (and sometimes stupidly brave) Elena is! I do data entry, and it's fairly mindnumbing stuff. To thank god for Audible. This book, with the EXCELLENT narration, was absolutely hypnotizing. I loved the voice changes, and the emotion the narrator portrayed. Great storyline, it wasn't exactly a.. romance novel, NOTHING like the sh*tty 2 dollar "smut" bored housewifes read, this was a true love story. With a very strong independent woman deciding what she wants, and when she wants it. I got way more out of this than I expected, and the suspense was wonderful.

Highly recommend, and the ending is just great!! (Not exactly unexpected, but a very fun twist. :) Loovveee this author, and the narrator. She's awesome, can't say enough good things about her.

"NOT WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF AS AN ARCHANGEL!!!"

This is an interesting series and it certainly debunks any previous notions we had about archangels. They're not the protective, caring beings we might have thought them to be. Even in their ruthlessness, the sure are sexy! The relationship between the Elena and Raphael is never dull. It was fun to see how this very human guild hunter stands up to and pushes the buttons of a very deadly but sexy archangel. After listening to to this first book, I went back and purchased the next three books in the series. I can't get my fill of these characters. The story is well thought out and the fight scene between Elena, Raphael and Uram was fast paced and truly frightening. I am an avid Nalini Singh fan, having read all the the psy-changeling books. I do feel the sex scenes are much hotter in the psy-changeling books because it feels more real. The first few encounters between Elena and Raphael feel cold and one sided to me, but by the time I got to the second and third installment, they were warming up. This series is based on an interesting concept and I recommend it. I think you'll get wrapped up in these characters just as I have. Can't wait to get to Dmitri's story. The seven should make interesting reading for quite a while.

I Love to read and I am all over the place. From Fantasy to Non Fiction to True Crime. Sadly even some Romance novels which I never thought I would read but they turned out to be not bad some even good as long as they had some fantasy in them

    "Very Good Story"
Would you consider the audio edition of Angels' Blood to be better than the print version?

I normally read a book first and if I really like it I buy the audible version to listen to on long trips or at night while I am in bed.

What did you like best about this story?

The hero was not overly concerned that his love for a mortal would turn human.

    The conversion

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Ruthless Angel and Kickass Hunter

    Any additional comments?

    Good Book. Good Series.

"A bit disappointed, but I will read next book"

I wanted to try this because I had seen so many good reviews, but I found it a bit disappointing. I was not surprised to see that, on the book's Amazon page, Christine Feehan gives ebullient praise...because this book sort of reminded me of Dark Prince - a book I hated enough not to finish (RARE for me). This book was better than Dark Prince - after all I did finish it, and I there is enough of a plot to make me curious about the second book.

Why I am comparing it to that book: 1) The relationship between Elaina and Raphael seemed contrived in the same way - why is she so irresistible to a man who has lived for millennia? The author didn't convince me. 2) Repeated ad nauseum assertations of the inconceivable beauty of one or both characters - in this case, mostly Raphael. And after all the buildup, the one love scene was like an afterthought. Also, after an entire book, I don't really feel like I know that much about either Elaina or Raphael. Several references to Elaina's childhood piqued my interest, but were not followed up on. Maybe in the next book...

Narrator: I didn't like her much at first (she has a nasal voice), but she grew on me as I heard her deal with other characters and accents.

"A great start to the series!"

I am a big fan of vampire stories, and was hoping that this series would not disappoint......and, it hasn't. The mythology was complicated enough to hold my interest, and the angel component was a sweet surprise.

    "Disappointing"
What disappointed you about Angels' Blood?

Halfway in and I really didn't care to learn more about the characters. And the narrator was off-putting in the reading of the details. While reading characters she was fine, but the descriptive scenes had a burr to the voice...

What was most disappointing about Nalini Singh’s story?

That the character seemed to be in a world where she had no power and was resigned to it, only trying to keep her friends from being killed too.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    She sounded condescending at times.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I kept thinking it would get better... Perhaps if the uber-supernaturals weren't "Angels" and "Archangels" that sound more like demons...
