For love or honor. Can a fated union be enough?
After serving six months on the squad, Thomas Blackwood is a true believer in Alpha Squad's mission. Unfortunately that doesn't change the fact that he has been serving two masters, and for a wolf shifter, that is one too many. When the squad is sent in to investigate a string of crimes reported to involve a pack of renegade wolves, Thomas realizes he is playing with borrowed time. Trapped between his pack's alpha's orders to kill the investigation before it starts, or remain true to Alpha Squad's calling, Thomas finds there is a worse fate - what would Private Callahan think of him if she knew he was a traitor?
Doing everything in her power to ignore the one Alpha Squad member who could turn her world upside-down, Jill Callahan has tried her best to maintain her professionalism. Thomas Blackwood could be her downfall - and she knows it. So she's been avoiding him altogether. But when Blackwood triggers suspicions and nobody seems to notice it but her, Jill discovers quickly she no longer has that luxury. Compelled to investigate what's really going on, Jill can't help but wonder if this mission will be the one to end in heartbreak, but if it does, so be it. Loyalties are tested, bonds are shaken, and some things are not meant to last. The mission - and the squad - must come first. Can two hearts meant for each other find another way? Or are things just not that simple?
Join Alpha Squad in this steamy paranormal romance you won't want to put down. If you like Alpha City by Bryce Evans or Bear Patrol by Scarlett Grove, then you will love the Alpha Squad Series by Lorelei Moone!
This was a paranormal/shifter romance that while a short story in length it packed in a lot into a little.
Thomas, a wolf shifter, was assigned to alpha squad by his alpha, but while his orders may be clear, the motives are not and increasingly, neither is his conscience. Not to mention he wasn't planning on Jill, a woman he can't stop thinking about and who suddenly seems to notice him too. It just happens to be at the worst time.
Jill had been trying to ignore and work through her interest in Thomas, but lately she seemed to be the only one noticing his odd behavior. Realizing the cause may put them at odds, but it doesn't mean it will make their growing feelings go away.
So this was a sweet romance for me and it had quite a bit going on. There was some suspense and intriguing, there was the attraction between the main characters, there were bad and good guys. And there were wolf shifters. I love a good shifter book. And this story did a good job of holding my attention with it's twists and turn of events. If it had been longer I would have enjoyed seeing more development of the relationship vs the insta-love vibe. I also would have liked seeing more time spent discussing and learning more of Thomas's wolf side.
The narrator did a good job with the different accents and had great distinction between male and female.
Out of all the books in this series that I have listened to, this one seemed to go by the fastest. It certainly makes my day more enjoyable when the office is too quiet because it's just me. It's also nice have this to listen to on my commute to and from work - and when I get caught in a traffic jam.
Ms. Lusk has come to grow on me. I had a hard time picturing her as the female lead but then it got better when I thought of her as someone who was just reading me a story. And now I couldn't picture anyone else reading this series. I've missed one of the books and I'm looking forward to her reading me that one as well.
I can picture myself taking my Audible library with me and going to London and just finding a nice comfortable spot and listen to the series again. I can also see myself listening to the series and walking the streets. The only thing I wouldn't do is go on a tour while listening to Ms. Moone's series. A guided tour would be too much of a distraction and would take away from my enjoyment. The ending though left me feeling that this series isn't over yet. The next book is not an audiobook as yet - please, please, please! I love the audio version of this series. It has me wanting to go and read the actual book when I have a chance.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Audio Copy of this book.
Thomas Blackwood , a hot shifter in the Alpha Squad but he is there under a false reason, his Alpha wants things stopped.
Jill Callahan is a private in the military she is the picture of professional military , but she is drawn to Thomas, and she can't have that.
I have read all the books this author has written about this Squad so far and have loved them all
This was my first book in this series, but since it is a complete standalone I didn't have any trouble following the storyline. Each has book also has a guaranteed HEA.
As members of the Alpha Squad Jill Callahan and Thomas Blackwood must work together, but are also trying stay away from one another. Mostly because of a strong attraction for another that they can't seem to quell. Much to their dismay, they are ordered on a mission that will force them together. Jill finds herself flustered at the news while Thomas is hopeful that perhaps this will allowing to finally get close Jill. But when Thomas informs his Alpha about the mission, he is given another set of orders that if obeyed will ruin his chances with Jill. Conflicted and with his loyalties being tested, Thomas must make a choice. And what will Jill do about it?
Alpha Squad was a well-paced, full of suspense, and with a great element of romance. A quick listen that was very well written and the storyline was a refreshing take on your typical paranormal romance. If you enjoy good PNR with strong female leads and hot, sexy shifters, this is the story for you.
This was also my first time listening to a narration by Audrey Lusk. Her accents for this audiobook were great! She really brought the characters to life and her change between accents and subtle changes in her voice for each character were great! My only gripe was that, for my liking, she sound a bit too old in comparison the characters in the book. Which was a bit distracting at first, but once I began to get sucked in by the story it almost didn't matter to me. Fans of PNR go ahead and add this to your TBL now!
Alpha Squad: Infiltrator was such a quick and fun listen - full of action, suspense, and angst. I liked Thomas and Jill when they were introduced in Alpha Squad: Boot Camp. Thomas seemed so happy and easy-going, such a great member of Alpha Squad, so it was disheartening to see how his loyalty was torn between his pack and the squad. The tension was similar to that in Boot Camp and I really wanted to know how it all resolved, so that alone kept me listening, despite the fact that I just can't get on board with the narrator. Add to that the relationship brewing between him and Callahan - this book turned out to be a real page turner for me! I give Alpha Squad: Infiltrator 3.75 out of 5 stars!
