Publisher's summary

Greek billionaire playboy Nikolas Constantinos intended to conclude the business deal with Jessica Stanton, a.k.a. The Black Widow, as quickly as possible. Love hadn't been part of his plan. A hot affair or a one-night stand was all he'd allow. Because love would lead to marriage. And marriage to Jessica, a woman with a scandalous past, could ruin him. But love was the one thing he couldn't control.

Only so so.

I have really enjoyed all of Linda Howard's books I have previously read, but this one was only so so. The main character, Jessica, started out so fierce, but eventually became pitiful, willing to give into Nikolas' demands. She became self-deprecating, and my opinion of Jessica went from high to low half way through the story. I'm glad it ended happily, though.

all that glitters

I really enjoyed listening to this book. this is my second Linda Howard book. Shades of Twilight is one of my all time fave books. anyway, Linda seems to like women with head wounds and men with some sort of grudge to bear but I still enjoyed it. very nice plot line

Glad I listened to this story

While I’m glad I listened to this story, this is not a repeat story I’ll listen to again. It was too painful for a repeat listen until the very end.

While I usually enjoy Ms Howard’s books - not this one.

I don’t like men who are bullies, won’t listen & treat women like chattel. Even less do I respect women that allow it. Regardless of the ending. I’ll read other reviews & The summery more carefully before I purchase another of her books.

Not one of her best

I usually love Linda Howard's books, but this one was disappointing. Even taking into account when it was written and the genre it belongs to, the characters just weren't likable.

Greek Billionaire cannot buy love~but he tries LOL

PLOT: Nicholas Constantinos GREEK Billionaire HUNK finds a woman he cannot buy.~

LINDA HOWARDS FIRST BOOK~ SWEET lovely Jessica Stanton is a very young widow with a reputation as a "black widow" due to her marriage to a much older husband. She is beautiful and intelligent. She has some stocks Greek Billionaire Nicholas Constatinos wants. When Jessica votes down a merger ......it brings Nicholas to the UK to "persuade" Jessica to sell no matter "what it takes".....assuming the worst about Jessica~ Nicholas decides to use his passionate nature to both "sweep Jessica off her feet" and get his stocks. But Jessica has a "plan of her own" She cannot be bought. Virgin Jessica married for love not sex and was a widow very young. the battle of the sexes is fun and a GREEK "CAN learn some new rules" LOL about love. This is NOT a romantic suspense like her recent books but the story is good and holds up over time. Jessica is a good heroine and Nicholas "figures" out that Jessica is a RARE gem of a lady. This is a very good book. THE reader is good but could have been much better. THANK YOU DREAMSCAPE MEDIA AND AUDIBLE for finally bringing Linda Howards FIRST book to audio. KEEP them coming....how about Heartbreaker and Duncan's Bride?? HINT hint HINT.....and this is BETTER than the Cutting Edge released last year. I give the READER 3 stars the Story 5 Stars and over all 4 stars. A good audio for a rainy day. Enjoy.

timeless romance

I absolutely loved the story. very different from some of linda Howard's other books. it took me on a ride of emotions and feelings as we were swept away in Jessica and nicholas' love story!

Her First Book - she got better

Being a first book may be the excuse for characters impossible to like. A hero who is a bully and a heroine who is as loopy and indecisive as buttermilk.
The narrator had a problem distinguishing male and female voices.

Good narration

The narrator makes one feel present in this story. The book ended sooner than I anticipated. I didn’t expect this ending. This narrator is much better other narrators of Linda Howard’s books
