Publisher's Summary

She gave him her innocence….

Lady Aline Marsden was brought up for one reason: to make an advantageous marriage to a member of her own class.

Instead, she willingly gave her innocence to John McKenna, a servant on her father’s estate. Their passionate transgression was unforgivable - John was sent away, and Aline was left to live in the countryside - an exile from London society - and he took her love.

Now McKenna has made his fortune, and he has returned - more boldly handsome and more mesmerizing than before.

His ruthless plan is to take revenge on the woman who shattered his dreams of love. But the magic between them burns as bright as ever. And now he must decide whether to let vengeance take its toll…or risk everything for his first, and only, love.

Great Book great Narrator

Wow, I was beginning to doubt the greatness of Lisa Kleypas‘ early books. The last 2 books published (Lady Sophia’s Lover & Worth Any Price) on audible was not up to her usual standard. But this book was great. Although great, this book was a little different from her usual writing style. Her books typically has a villain (Lord Westcliff (the elder or younger) aren’t villains, they were both jerks) and a mystery and/or a life threatening incident. But this one was all romance. Rosalyn Landor is such an amazing narrator; at times I almost forget that she is the only reader and not many others.
Well readers, I cannot go into much more without ruining it for you all. Highly recommend. BTW, when is "When Strangers Marry" coming out on audio book? One of the very Best.

I am a devoted fan of Lisa Kleypas and Rosalyn Landor.

Lisa and Rosalyn 2 Thumbs Up!

What made the experience of listening to Again the Magic the most enjoyable?

Rosalyn Landor is the best historical narrator I have ever heard. She is "on the mark" every time. Her voices are believable and bring the novel to an outstanding performance.

I have listened to several of Rosalyn Landors performances, and each one is incredible.

This book is definitely worth the credit and time. I could hardly put it down...I loved it!

Warning: Maybe I tell too much!

Lisa Kleypas can write very good love stories. This is a good story with one exception.

Alaina is the beautiful, eldest daughter of an Earl. Makenna is a stable boy. Makenna came to the family as an orphan and at a very early age. He and Alaina grow up together and fall in love when they become teenagers. When the Earl finds out he sends Makenna away. Alaina must tell him he is to leave and make him believe she wants him to go. A few days after he leaves, Alaina is the victim of an accidental fire and her legs are burnt and left badly scarred. She is emotionally scarred as well.

Makenna runs away from where the Earl has sent him and makes his way to America. Years later he returns to Alaina's home as a wealthy man, along with his partner, the very wealthy and exceptionally handsome, Gideon Shaw. Makenna plans to take revenge on Alaina for sending him away. Of course, they are both still in love with one another.

Alaina will not accept Makenna's love because of her scarred legs. About 2 or 3 chapters before the ending, she has the perfect chance to change her mind, but doesn't. Then a chapter later she suddenly changes her mind without reason. This, to me, is the weak part of the story. Alaina is a beautiful woman who cannot accept what happened to her. Her vanity makes her a little unlikeable to me.

The best part of the book for me is the secondary love story. Olivia, Alaina's younger sister is in seclusion because of a scandal. She is not as beautiful as Alaina; however, I like her much better. She becomes involved in an affair with the handsome Gideon Shaw. Because of a serious problem Gideon has she refuses to marry him, and rightfully so, in my opinion.

Lisa's sex scenes are more graphic than I am comfortable with, but I cam FF through them.

Rosalyn Landor does a beautiful job. Her voice for Gideon Shaw is fantastic! She is simply amazing with the different voices in this book.

If you like Lisa Kleypas' books you will probably like this one too. Most of the other reviews are good. In many ways Alaina is a likeable character, I just did not like her fixation on her legs. I didn't notice any other reviewers remarking about this, so maybe it is just me!

LK and RL again give us PURE MAGIC

I have no words to describe this book ! It's simply MAGIC in every way , story, narration, and dialogue. Never wanted this book to end :( Lisa is such a sensual author ! And Rosalyn is MAGNIFICENT ! I can't believe how she does it ! Splendid ! As if there are multiple people performing not herself only ! And she not just reads , she actually performs and acts the dialogue , bringing each word and character to life. The combination of LIsa and Rosalyn is MAGIC :)
This book is a MUST for historic romance fans :)

It's like an Origins book!

Would you listen to Again the Magic again? Why?

Yes, I would. I love this series (Wallflowers) and have listened to book 1-4 twice. This book is like an Origins where it showcases things we've heard bits and pieces about in book 1-4 when we were hearing the stories of the four wallflowers. This one gives us a taste of the girls in Westcliff's family and shows us how things were before he became the great man with such tolerance.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't pick a favorite out of this bunch. They all have some quirkiness that I adore.

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Rosalyn Landor if a fantastic narrator. She is able to put a unique voice to SO many characters, both male and female, and she is able to express their emotions through any event, be it anger, sexual, romantic, embarrassment. I listen to these book mainly because she is so good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I found myself not wanting to turn off the book but I don't mind stretching out the fun across days.

Any additional comments?

Rosalyn Landor is a great story teller. Lisa Kleypas is good at conveying romance in the most intimate ways without making it uncomfortable or grotesque.

A must read for "Wall Flowers" Fans!!!!!!

The great thing about Lisa Kleypas' writing is that she takes a predictable storyline and adds enough twists to them that it keeps you going. Although one can always guess the ending before starting the story, she takes you on a ride that makes you long for the predictable happy ending while making you fall for & admire the male leads like Mr.Simon Hunt,Leo Hathaway & now McKenna. It's also great how she mingles the characters from different stories together to make a world where these beloved characters really come to life.

Kleypas Fan

I have recently encountered Lisa Kleypas. I have found that I thoroughly enjoy her writing. For those of us who read romance novels, we know there is a successful progression to each story. Kleypas is amazing at keeping her readers hooked, even though we may be sure of what will happen. She is fantastic at what she does. That being said, this book is definitely a romance novel and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't enjoy the genre.

Lisa's Best

Where does Again the Magic rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Fantastic, this is my favourite Lisa Kleypas book. It surpasses The Devil in Winter, which is amazing.
I didn't know this was a prequel to "The Wallflowers Series , which Precedes The Hathaway"s".
When listening, the book mentions, The Rutledge Hotel, Stony Cross Park, and the Earl of Westcliffe.

What did you like best about this story?

I actually like the secondary story of Gideon Shaw and Olivia Marsden.
Gideon is an American financier, and alcoholic (who shuts himself away when he binges) who falls in love with Olivia, the Earl of Westcliffe's little sister, who is recovering from her fiancée's death.
They are a fascinating couple.

What does Rosalyn Landor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is the Best, you are never disappointed when she narrates a book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are so many, marriage proposals, goodbyes, reunions.....have tissues around.

Any additional comments?

A beautiful story, I could see this being made into a movie. Enjoy!!!!
