This is Eve and Donovan’s story. When Rusty hired a kid at the hardware store Donovan checked out the boy and family. He is attracted to Eve from the start. He offers help but Eve is scared and decides to run. Caught in a freak storm her and her bother are injured. Donovan moves them into his house and takes care of them. They spend time together and Eve tells Donovan all her secrets. Donovan falls for Eve and her family. He knows he will protect them at all costs. When he comes up with a plan he gets his brothers involved. They are dealing with a monster. Eve overhears a conversation and thinks the worst of Donovan she decides that he wants her family but not her so she leaves to protect them. She ends up running into the heads of a monster. Eve’s bother runs after her. Can Donovan track down Eve and her brother and save them or are they both too far gone to save? Will he get his family he always wanted or will he lose them both?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

What a HUGE disapointment!!

I've been in love with this series since the beginning; listening to some of the books twice!! However, this one is not even close to par with the others; if it hadn't been for the familar character names.

The repetitive internal dialog of the main characters was painful!!! I certainly hope the Maya has it together for the next book in the series..........

Donovan Get's His Girl

I love this series, and I'd loved to have been able to give this book 5 stars, but it didn't quite hit that mark for me. KGI is a private para military company, founded by ex-military tough as nails brothers who like to go in and save those in distress. This series, thus far, have been about how each brother or team member finds their love. Donovan, one of the Kelly Brothers, is the hero in this book.

Eve is on the run with her two half siblings from an abusive step father, and she winds up in Dover, Tennessee, near the Kelly compound. They are out of money and running out of luck when they meet up with Donovan and his adopted sister Rusty, who decide to give them a hand up and protection.

While I did enjoy the story, I felt like Van and Eve's relationship all happened a bit too quickly. Van came on pretty strong, with his "instant family" thing. This one didn't seem to have as much action as the others in the series did either. Other than that, it was a great read, and necessary for those following the series.

I thought Adam Paul did a great job with the narration, bringing life to the story and managing the voices competently. Being from the area where the Kelly boys live, it's no small praise when I say he nailed the accents. Well done!

From One Control Freak to Another

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, the unrealistic reaction of Eve to Donovan's actions. By this I mean, considering her reaction to Walt, how okay she is to this guy, whom she's only known for a few DAYS, saying he wants forever with her and taking it up with her siblings, which was extremely underhanded, and not well explained by Van's desire to make his wishes seem serious to Eve. Had I been Eve, I would have been having serious alarm bells going off. I really didn't think that was realistic at all.

Would you ever listen to anything by Maya Banks again?

Yes, I like her other books, its just the glaring problem with Eve being okay with Van's actions was extremely jarring for me.

Did Adam Paul do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Eh.... I still much prefer the original narrator, I think Mr. Paul lays on the southern accent waay too strongly.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, though I wouldn't be surprised if it wound up on Lifetime.

Any additional comments?

Another thing that bothered me was the superficial resemblance of this Eve to a much stronger character in another series. I'm a huge fan of both the KGI and the other series and the similarities bugged me.

Not the best

Felt like a deadline book that needed to get done. Lots of filler and repetition of words. Just over and over again. I lions this author and happy to have gotten it because it’s a KGI bother. Be prepared to be board but I still like Donavan and the Kelly family.

Great all around love story

This one has some amazing kids & young lady in it going thru some tragic circumstances. But love prevails with the help of the KGI team/family. Looking forward to more from this excellent series.

Sorry Donovan but the other KGI stories are better

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would tone down Donovan's attitude a bit. He was so cool in other KGI books but in his own he was too focused on making the heroine and her siblings into being his family and less focused on seeing they had issues and to take things slowly. I also think the love and trust came way too early - especially from the little girl.

Has After the Storm turned you off from other books in this genre?

Nope

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I like this reader

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

yes

Any additional comments?

This book was worth a listen, if only to keep up with the Kelly family. I like the other books in the series better, and I am looking forward to more Kelly/KGI stories.

I love KGI and this one was a must read

1. I LOVE Donovan, this was a great story and I totally enjoyed it. I have to say that there are parts now that are getting to be a bit much with the sweetness and all, but it is still excellent writing and a great story.

2. Donovan is a great guy, totally hot and awesome, we know that. I love Eve and her story with the kids. What an amazing plight. Far fetched...well duh, its KGI! But hey, totally awesome.

3. I'd love to see more of the "glimpse" we got of an upcoming storyline :)

4. Let me qualify this by saying I loved the story, that said, I could have used more of the struggle with her recovery, more of the challenges, etc. there is a fine line and Ms. Banks always walks it well. I would have enjoyed a bit more depth I think.

5. Okay so Adam Paul, the narrator, I try really hard to give the narrators the benefit of the doubt. Adam Paul does a good job in his normal voice, but there are times when he is changing his voice to sound like one of the characters which really annoys me, my goal with a narrator is to not notice them just to be absorbed in the story, but some characters are so strange sounding that it gets distracting.

All in all, a great book, long awaited and I can't wait to hear more from this talented author!

Talk about "Instant Family"

"Instant family" definitely beats "love at first site". It's hard for me to get into books that have the man making life plans after meeting twice. I would personally run in the opposite direction... but then this is Donovan! The story lacked the depth in the relationship.

The performance was okay. Nothing more to say.

I recommend this book because you have come this far... it's part of KGI...

Just pretend you never heard of "love at first site"... and then pretend to be surprised when Donovan falls in love!

Enjoy!
