Publisher's Summary

Jack Valentini isn't my type. Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave. Jack might be gorgeous, but he's also scruffy, rugged, and rude. He wants nothing to do with a "rich city girl" like me, and he isn't afraid to say so. But I've got a PR job to do for his family's farm, so he's stuck with me and I'm stuck with him. His glares. His moods. His tight jeans. His muscles. His huge, hard muscles.

Pretty soon there's a whole different kind of tension between us, the kind that has me misbehaving in barns, trees, and pickup trucks. I've never done anything so out of character - but it feels too good to stop.

And the more I learn about the grieving ex-Army sergeant, the better I understand him. Losing his wife left him broken and bitter and blaming himself. He doesn't think he deserves a second chance at happiness. But he's wrong.

I don't need to be his first love. If only he'd let me be his last.

Epic love story

This book was such a welcome surprise. I haven't read from this author before so I didn't know what to expect and I was completely taken aback by the intensity and emotion brought forth by Melanie Harlow.

The premise of a broken man and a woman looking for more out of her life. I loved Margot. Her ethics and morals and penchant for hard work made her a woman to look up to. Jack was so broody and destroyed. The only woman who could break through that would be Margot. I loved everything about this story.

Rob Howard was PERFECT. His voice and pacing and tone was exactly what I would expect Jack to sound like. Renee Givens has a strong and sure voice that was just what Margot should be. They kept me engrossed in the story from beginning to end.

PHENOMENAL.. SIMPLY PHENOMENAL

I'm sure Melanie Harlow is very proud of this book.. and so she should be because this epic relationship based emotional story claimed me right from the start. From Margot throwing scones at her worthless ex during her Mother's posh dinner party, through the first awkward meeting between her and Jack, on to the push/pull rollercoaster relationship that tentatively smouldered then burned brightly.. and finally on to that sweet sighworthy ending. Every single paragraph, every single sentiment, every single nuance, every single sex scene, every single crack in Jack's walls and every heartwarming romantic declaration was perfectly described. And the dual POV storyline, which was very well narrated, made this an awesome listen.

Privileged rich city girl Margot is a feisty, savvy PR agent who has been hired to promote an Organic Farm owned by three brothers - and two of them are happy she's spending a few weeks getting to know them, the produce they grow and life on a working Farm. However, the third brother - brooding Jack Valentini, is not happy.. he doesn't want change, doesn't want to show a privileged barbie doll stranger around.. and definitely doesn't want to feel the undeniably sexual attraction to a woman for the first time in three years.

Jack had lost his wife and he couldn't (or wouldn't) move on so surrounded himself with the memories of her by keeping things as if she were still there.. but behind the scenes there's a story why Jack has imprisoned himself - and his story was heartbreaking. But slowly, with her tenacious, friendly, happy, confident attitude, her willingness to get her hands dirty and her insatiable desires (both sexually and professionally), Margot won over the moody, bad tempered, broken farmer to reveal a soul who needed forgiveness to heal, who needed redemption to move on and who needed saving from himself.

This is no ordinary story.. yes, it's got humor, heart and heat by the spade full - but woven in amongst its pages there's also a heartbreaking story of loss, coming to terms with it, forgiving yourself and giving yourself permission to move on. You could feel the seismic chemistry between Jack and Margot, the tension between these two built and built and when their mutual attraction couldn't be denied any more the sexcapades were hot. Good secondary characters of family and friends. This has all the feels and I felt every one.

Worth a credit? YES.. it owned me.. body and soul.

I FELL TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY!

I'm madly in love with this book! MH did an awesome job of creating two incredible characters that you instantly identify with in many ways and can stand up and cheer for emphatically. Jack and Margo couldn't be more opposite of what they want in a partner but they were exactly what each other needed. This is a story of second chances at love and life. This book was beyond what I expected.

If I had one criticism it would be the male narrator Rob Howard--he was just ok, but Renee Givens was superb and brought life to the characters. This book sat in my library for several months after I bought it because I knew it would be emotionally charged and I wasn't quite ready. I'm so glad I finally listened! It was emotional, yes, but it was equal parts funny, sexy, and downright one of the best books I've heard this year!

just ok

I just couldn't get into it and I really tried. For an author to use the word "funner" in a published book over and over....just annoyed me. Funner is not a word....and it's being used as a word in a book!!! Did the author not learn any grammar?? Predictable and very sappy.

ALL THE FEELINGS!

I am such a fan of this artist and the narrator she chooses to read her words. Gogo and Jack are opposites that attracts. Farmer and rich city girl but they are so right for each other. The battle that Jack goes through is torture and Gogo is his sanity if only he would let her in. I LAUGHED SO HARD at Gogo climbing that tree and the narrator was so into it is felt like I was listening to TV. I cried at times, felt sadness, love and happiness. Of course the ending rocked! The chicken coop though!! Yes!
I'd highly recommend this book so hard!! Melanie Harlow has another top fan.
