Sexism = NO

Any additional comments?

Disclaimer - I couldn't finish this book.

Ember Manchester is supposed to be a badass hacker ("one of the most renowned computer hackers in the world: respected, sought out by clients across the globe, and the absolute best at what she does") but all we are hearing about is which guy she wants to bang and how attracted she is to someone. She kisses her boss on maybe her second day of work at her new job. This book was touted as having an awesome female protagonist but this feels just like another (mildly) sexist book about a woman in the tech industry.

I couldn't get past the first few chapters. If this book was about a male hacker, we wouldn't be hearing about which one of his bosses he'd rather sleep with. Gross. Do not recommend at all.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Not as enjoyable as I hoped

Any additional comments?

I had hoped that I'd enjoy this series more, but I didn't. I liked the idea behind the series, so two thumbs up for that! I couldn't get into the heroine, though - I thought she was selfish, and if I were a guy I wouldn't have been attracted to her at all. The narration didn't help. She's an expert hacker but sounded like a stereotypical phone sex honey. That clashed in my mind when I was mentally visualizing the character as I listened to the story. I think that a cool, confident tone would have been more effective than the seductive kitten tone.Which is ironic, because of her lack of experience with the opposite sex. So, these things together made a great story idea less believable or compelling for me.

I provided this review in exchange for a complimentary copy of the audiobook from the author, narrator, or publisher.

Not a bad book but the narration ruined it for me

Would you try another book from L.L. Ronin and/or Shoshana Franck?

I might try another L.L. Ronin book

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I liked the story fine but I had a hard time enjoying it

How could the performance have been better?

The main female character was smart and strong but the narration made her sound like a dumb blond porn star. Too breathy and always sounded like she was trying to be sexy instead of the intelligent hacker she was.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

It was ok.

I was thankful that all books where combined into one purchase, I am not a fan of buying multiple little books to hear one story.
This book wasn't awful or anything, you grab my interest I wish it would. I'm a technology junkie so I kind of this book would really love the characters explore technology.
To me the characters didn't seem very developed. I hate the same old song and dance where they see a guy one time, fall madly in love with them at first glance. They constantly go back and forth on the matter.

Not as good as I thought it would be

Any additional comments?

The book has a little bit of everything in it mystery, romance, thrills, adventurer. I thought this was a believable plot that does pull the listener in.

Ms. Franck has a very pleasant voice but her character voice of Ember didn’t come off as a nerdy person. In my mind she was more of sexy on a stick which messed with how I pictured her. I thought her character voices were good. There are no repeats of wording, no background noises or even volume changes. She really puts emotion into the listen you have no trouble knowing what each character is feeling. It is a very clear audio. I am still having trouble getting past the sexy voice for the nerdy lady.

I thought the plot was good, giving me a little of everything. It was great to have all the book in one audio. I am a little mixed at time it kept my attention and other times I found myself wondering. I enjoyed it but it isn’t an audio I would want to listen to again.

Romance Thriller

I was hoping the narrator would go for a more nerdy portrayal of the main character. I felt her voice didn't really portray Ember, but with that said I liked her normal voice so YMMV.

I was a little skeptical of the plot from early on in the book. I mean, since when did hacking become synonymous with typing correctly quickly? I didn't buy the romance between Ember and Ryland and would have preferred without it. Ember complains about Ryland's personality and smugness then talk about how attractive he is in the same sentence felt more like a teen romance. And making out in the middle of their first job? The audible description focuses on hacking, but it's really a sideline. This is more of a romance than a thriller.

Not Quite the Book I was Expecting

Overall then plot was enjoyable but too much intrigue on the sex and romance and not enough intrigue in the plot. It is based on a world class hacker threatened by her dark, sort of, past. Don’t all hackers have a dark past. I thought that is what made the so good.
This is okay for an easy listen but remember to set reality and the narration aside.

great 4 books

was gifted this audio ARC from the author/ Narrator for a honest and unbiased review.
L L Ronine did a fine job writing this book. Although at times some of the deeds done by characters in book were far fetched.
Shoshanna Franck was a pleasure to listen to.
The story has everything you need. And thank you for putting all books into one.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that is into hacking stories.

Fun Series!

Any additional comments?

There's more to life than looks, money and career - which Ember the computer hacker is about to find out. Who doesn't need a little adventure and romance in their life?

I found Abrasive to be a very enjoyable listen and loads of fun. Ember's voice sounded a little sexpot-ish but I think it added to the charm of the story. Overall the narration was well done and I would recommend Abrasive.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. .An exciting slightly geeky romance ;)

This is a 4 book set all rolled up in to one fansasmic bundle! This collection includes the following books:
Intrusive (book 1)
Invasive (book 2)
Corruptive (book 3)
Destructive (book 4
I'm happy to say I enjoyed them all :) . I loved Ember, our resident heroine. She is a cracker Hacker an elite. She is a keyboard Wizard . Ember is nerdy, smart a lil geeky but very much adorabubble...Yup adorabubble because adorable doesn't quite cut it.
one thing I found fascinating was the balance between suspense, romance and comedy I got from this book, it was superb I mean everything was where it needed to be and nothing felt awkward or misplaced.
I will say that the book is probably mis-categorized and should probably be in the chick-Lit section. This doesn't mean that it lacked substance in the slightest I mean Jennifer Estep's Gin Blanco/The Spider series is in that category and Gin is an assassin. The blurb had my brain heading a different direction than the books but I enjoyed them more I think because of that However reading a few of the other reviews not everybody felt that way but I was pleasantly surprised.
L.L. Ronin wrote this lovely romance so her readers are drawn in and held spellbound. Ember and Ryland have an amazing story. Don't miss it!
Shoshana Franck has a fantastic voice ! It complemented Ember's character very well in my mind. The emotion involved and the highs and lows in this book are extremely real, it makes you feel at the right times, and keeps you there, waiting and hoping things turn out okay Shoshana helps create this and does it well.I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. As always This review is my honest opinion.
