Publisher's summary

John Eagletalon had no idea what the government intended when it assigned him to its latest secret project - an icy blonde beauty with a miraculous ability. All he knew was that he owed Uncle Sam fourteen more months of his life, and if it meant being this woman's partner and bodyguard until he'd paid his dues, he'd find a way to endure the ordeal. Until he discovered what the government had been doing to her. And at the same time, discovered he was falling hopelessly in love with her.

Now it's no longer a matter of protecting her. It's a matter of keeping her out of their clutches. And making her his.

Plot good, execution was lacking

This book just didn’t have enough depth to any part of the story.
The love story: There was a meeting, then next thing you know the guy loves the girl. There is no build-up, no sudden love at first sight moment. There was just guy meets girl, go on a mission and boom they are in love. Where is the suspense or the feeling of joy when one person finds the other. The relationship was too “cold” to prove the “I’ll do anything for you” moments.
The secret government experiment: again, just data no feelings. There was no suspense or mystery into motive or opportunity. Just a girl born with a unique condition who goes on missions.
The rescue from her situation: she runs away. They get married. She is kidnapped and then she’s found. Where is the suspense. Where is the mystery.

The performance of the book was mediocre. There was about 10 seconds of dead air between chapters. Even listening to it at 1.8x the pause was too long. I found myself checking to make sure my
Phone didn’t die.
