Torn in half

This was an amazing book, written very well by Ms. Rivers. It stirred me spiritually, and educated me of a time period I have, before now, been uninformed about. I think that some readers may appreciate this little heads up, though: don't expect to feel all warm and fuzzy at the conclusion of this literary work. Although overall it was a magnificent listen, I have to confess I was devastated at the ending. Admittedly, I am a great fan of traditional happy endings, where everything is neatly tied together, all questions are answered, and the result is a feeling of contentment. I do not like to cry at the end of a great book, and feel like all the hope was just sucked out of me. I understand why the author ended things the way she did, but I still didn't like it. It's kind of like the movie "Titanic"; you knew how things would end, but you still clung desperately to the belief that they would end better. However, I still strongly recommend this book as a great listen. It was compelling, causing me feel to feel some powerful emotions, and I cherish the fact that I could really identify with most of these characters created by the author.

Press on through the 1st few chapters.

I struggled through the 1st few chapters because a friend highly recommended this book. so glad I did. A powerful message to be a bright light in the darkness till the end.

Wonderful book about the early Christians

This book transports you back in time and makes you understand what it must have been like to live in the time right after Jesus’ crucifixion. It made me want to be a better Christian and love those around me unconditionally regardless of their actions.

Another Masterpiece by Francine Rivers

Her writing is moving and compelling. The love stories and written together so fluidly but it still maintains a clarity of the types of love used throughout. Godly love, brotherly love. familiar love beautifully interwoven.

Love it.

I just love the way Francine Rivers brings history to action. I have read that it is too violent for a Christian writer. But it's history and that is what was happening back then. The love story is beautiful. And the struggle that Hadasha was going through is one that a lot of people go through today. Follow God or follow the world?
Thank you Francine Rivers for a Beautiful story.

A Character to Lovd

Hadassah is hands down my favorite character of all time. This series blended my favorites- Faith, history, fiction, love, and forgiveness. I've read and listened this book and the others in the series multiple times. Each time I'm encouraged in my faith, strengthened in my mind, and falling in love with Hadassah and Marcus all over again!

Wonderful!

This was a very moving story. It held my attention from the beginning to the end. I found myself not wanting to put it down for a break. There were many relatable/recognizable parts to today’s world.
Ms Rivers is a wonderful writer. Thank you for this book.

Damn, I felt that!

It takes a while to get this freight train rolling.....
what it carries and how it carries the load is what makes it hit so hard.
You may think that one paragraph is just a simple statement or that it is just portraying a certain picture, but it is a many - layered thing.
To take a line from a certain well-know writer/movie..." one does not simply walk into Mordor", likewise, one does not simply leave the way they came after meeting Hadassah...now, on to book two - I must find out what the hell is going on as heaven nears!
