Much better than 1st Book

I read the 1st book, and I liked it but thought it dragged in some places, although I liked the two main characters. I took a chance reading the second book, and I really enjoyed the vampire and werewolve connection between Michael and Keely, I like seeing more into the werewolve world, and I hope this will be stronger in the next series.

Vastly superior to book 1 - recommended

The synopsis says: 'Los Angeles is no longer the City of Angels; dark things haunt its streets - dark, restless things. Bodies have been found, and the tentative peace between humans, vampires and werewolves teeters on the brink of collapse. Keeli Maddox needs to know why. If she and her kin are to survive, she must trust a man as different from her as night from day, as tooth from claw. He's a slayer, a betrayer, an enemy. But nobility lurks in dark places, and Keeli herself is no stranger to shadow. As sure as the moon will rise, Michael was meant for her. Life is about to change. Only three things will remain: the color of blood, the hot joy of skin on skin, and the danger in...A TASTE OF CRIMSON.'
This is good - it holds the attention, the story line is good and the characters believable (well, as far as vampires and werewolves can be believable!). The plot covers prejudice and racial intolerance - the Fangs think the Dogs are beneath their contempt, the werewolves loathe all vampires on principle - so our heroine and hero have to fight to overcome both their own, and their race's hatred. I didn't see the end coming, in that I didn't see who the baddie ultimately turned out to be.
Can be read without reading Book 1, which I'd give a miss - it's not worth the listen; this is.
