Publisher's Summary

A Taste for a Mate - Book 2 in the Redwood Pack Series

Jasper Jamenson's only responsibility to being the Beta of the Redwood Pack, second son of the Alpha, is to protect the Pack from themselves and the human world. After a century of selfless service, his brother's new-found mating forced him into taking a good look into his life. He isn't sure he wants a mate, but fate may have other ideas.

Willow Delton is a skinny bakery owner - the type most woman love to hate. Being without family, she finds herself alone to the Greek god with green eyes who saunters into her bakery every morning. Her desire to follow him, to be with him, overrides every rational sense she possessed.

Jasper and Willow are drawn together, despite every nuisance that works against them. But evil beyond even Jasper's supernatural compensation will make war against him, by going after the only thing in his eternal life he desires - Willow. Is Willow's heart enough to overcome Jasper's soul to save her life? A fight he cannot win, but to save her life - he must.

A full length novel.

You can find the print version of this novel in Redwood Pack Vol. 1.

Not quite there

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was time well-spent. The time went by fast and I looked forward to listening to this book.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

This one didn't quite come together as well as I wanted it to. Although I enjoyed it more than book 1, I still felt that Willow believed all the werewolf stuff a little too easily, and neither she nor Jasper became someone I could connect fully with as characters.
What about Gregory Salinas’s performance did you like?

Gregory Salinas is a great narrator. Even with a deep voice, he manages the female POVs well. I enjoy listening to him.

Do you think A Taste for a Mate needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I am intrigued with the direction this series is going. The impending war and the danger it has obviously brought to this pack's doorstep is interesting, and I want to know what happens.

Book 2 of the Redwood Pack will keep you on your toes.

Jasper and Willow's story is intense and makes you a fan of the Redwood Pack. You have to wonder if Jasper will ever really learn not to speak his mind out loud when he is thinking. The Central Pack is causing major trouble for the Redwood Pack. The narration was excellent I enjoyed this book and highly recommend.

Narrator makes or breaks an audio

Interesting story but can't deal with the narrator. The story line is strong enough that I tried the second book in the series after barely making it thru the first. But unfortunately I won't continue the series. The female voices are so bad it turns the humor between the mates into a parody.

I'm addicted

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am now addicted and will have to listen to them all. I have listened to dual narration and I like it but Gregory Salinas does a great job and I don't even think about it when he is reading me the story. I am loving the Redwood pack and all the different things that each member brings to the stories. Can't wait to hear all the family get their turn.

So good!

I really love Carrie's writing. I've read the entire Dante Circle and Montgomery Ink series, and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into another series of hers. Well, this book did not disappoint! It was really everything that I hoped it would be, I can't wait to see where she takes the Redwood packs story!

Sweet and heartbreaking at the same time

What made the experience of listening to A Taste for a Mate the most enjoyable?

I am a huge Carrie Ann Ryan fan, so I would enjoy all of her books regardless. However, the combination of Carrie Ann Ryan's vivid imagination and Gregory Salinas voice is genius. Salinas manages to put different intonation and inflection when reading different characters which goes in line with what most readers do when reading a book themselves. It keeps the story fresh and the listener engaged throughout the entire book.

Which scene was your favorite?

“The Jamenson brothers stood in front of her and Willow didn't know what alter his parents had prayed to but they'd all been blessed in good looks and build.”
I don't have a specific favorite scene, but I did have several chuckle out loud moments. This particular lines is one of my favorite in the book. It shows just the tip of the sense of humor that I've vome to expect in all of Ryan's books.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

WARNING SPOILER AHEAD

As a very avid reader, at times I feel that I may have become jaded in the romance department. However, Willow finding out she was pregnant and Jasper's reaction to the news made even my sometimes jaded heart melt. It's the kind of moment all women want to have when telling the father of their child that they are expecting and Carrie Ann Ryan captured it perfectly.

No. Took my 1 1/2 days.

Love the Redwoods!!

Jasper is the Beta of the Redwoods. Willow is a sweet baker that makes sweet treats. She knows nothing of the shifter world and he knows she's his mate. So how do you convince a human she's meant to be yours? Ask her out. Only before the date can happen Willow is taken and decisions have to be made. This book is sometimes graphic and often sweet. It is a story about making the best of a situation in less than ideal circumstances. You can't go wrong with Carrie Ann Ryan and Gregory Salinas does a good job bringing life to the world she has created.

After Jasper rescues his mate, she must come to terms with their mating and decide how to continue their relationship. But nefarious forces are at play and the Redwoods will face a new enemy.

If you're looking for a werepack to keep you warm at night, this will be it!
