Publisher's summary

From the moment Daphne, Lady Pomeroy, meets the mysterious Marquess of Hartwell at a masquerade ball, she's determined to seduce him. The handsome, charming man cannot possibly be the cold, calculating lord who Society calls "Black Hart". Risking everything, the lonely widow invites the elusive Hartwell to her dinner party…for two.

Hartwell's arrogant reputation is built on a lie. For he has a shameful secret that keeps him in the shadows: a stutter - his downfall since childhood. He'd rather keep his mouth shut than look the fool. But he's shocked to discover that in Daphne's company - and in her bed - his stutter vanishes.

After one wanton evening together, Daphne is hurt when the lord lives up to his Black Hart name. Yet his reasons for leaving surprise even him. Now he must confess everything or risk losing Daphne forever.

SHORT BUT OH SO SWEET

Lovely little romance, because these books are so short, you don't really get too much depth to them, but this had the feel good factor. A bit rushed at the end.

If you like these short listens then I'd recommend this one.

Title Hypes the Book Up

The book wasn't bad. I was looking for a real big scandal but got let down. The story isn’t erotica either. Well not on my level. Although the story line was nice and I did enjoy it for what it was. I would have liked more. I felt the writer could have done well…more.

Quick Regency Romance

This book is perfect if you enjoy short romantic stories with happy endings. Because the book isn't very long there isn't much time for details but the story is interesting enough to hold attention. There are a couple steamy scenes but I'm not sure it should be in the erotic category as the love scenes were at about the same level as the regular romance category.

The narrator's voice was clear and very pleasant. Overall, I would recommend this book on a day you don't have the time to devote to a longer book. And, the price is reasonable so you don't have to use a credit.

Short and sweet.

This is a good little story and I liked the characters. It is worth the price. If your looking for a short regency book with heart, this is your stop. I even looked to see if the author had anything else out there to listen to, but alas no. Narrator was good, but not outstanding.

Was very slow.

It took me a few times to want to listen to it. Didn't really care for how the brother just vanished.

Didn't like the narrator, her voice made the men sound like "old men".

Nice romantic story

Would you consider the audio edition of A Scandalous Affair to be better than the print version?

It is a short story, so i don't think that matters. The audio edition is good, so if you are working, or some other thing, it is a great story to have on you ipod.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

That it was the male version of a wallflower. Just that the man is considered to be arrogant and having a cold heart. There was not mutch romanc in the story. They go from diner to bed. No flirting or sweet words. But the ending is very romantic.

Have you listened to any of Priscilla Carson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I belive this is the first book of Priscilla Carson, so i can''t compare it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. It was easy to gues what would happen in it.

Any additional comments?

I belive this storyline could be exploited mutch more. But overall a great book for some easy listening.

Way to short

hated how short the book was... ended in a way I didn't care for! I should've known better than listening to a book less than 3 hours in length!

Pretty short and pretty good

Any additional comments?

This book has a couple of erotic love scenes and a fairly quick and sweet love story. It's not great, but if you are looking for something short that isn't too involved, I'd recommend this book. The narrator does a pretty good job. I didn't mind her narration for this short story. I'm not so sure I would have enjoyed her in a longer story though.

Wonderful short romance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book. It was sweet and passionate. For such a short read the characters were well developed and the love scenes were very passionate and seductive.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that the hero was vulnerable yet dominate and strong. I really liked the reader as well. She made the story come alive.
