Publisher's summary

Brilliant scholar Genevieve Barrett's secret identity as the author of her father's articles is her greatest deception - until her father's handsome new student arrives on their doorstep. Genevieve recognizes him as the masked intruder who earlier tried to steal a priceless gem from their home. Keeping the seductive stranger's identity hidden is a risk, but she's got secrets of her own to keep.

Sir Richard Harmsworth fakes a rakish facade to show society that he doesn't care about his bastard status. Yet haunted by his unknown father's identity, Richard believes the Harmsworth Jewel will prove he's the rightful heir. Intent on seducing the stone away from its owner, Richard finds himself face-to-face with a beauty more breathtaking than any jewel. But even as she steals Richard's heart, Genevieve will be in greater danger than her coveted treasure....

Love this book. Beautifully written and narrated. The characters are well represented and fleshed out

So so

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator

Would you recommend A Rake's Midnight Kiss to your friends? Why or why not?

No, not as an audible book

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator's female voice is just horrible, a bad joke.

Was A Rake's Midnight Kiss worth the listening time?

Nope

Any additional comments?

The narrator ruined the story for me. I've enjoyed other books by this author with different narrators.

last third destroys the story

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A better ending for the story would hav made the book worthwhile.

What was most disappointing about Anna Campbell’s story?

The portrayal of the heroine. She was TSTL, even though she was hailed as a smart person.Chapter 27 has her saying that she hates the hero, but then wants to kiss/touch/make love to him. The author should understand that this is not romantic. Having sex with someone you don't trust, think is a liar and hate sends a wrong message as to how women act. It also justifies the thinking that some men have that a woman is only "saying NO, but really wants it". Nothing romantic there!!

Did Antony Ferguson do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes, he did an adequate job with thie narration.

What character would you cut from A Rake's Midnight Kiss?

The vicar. When his daughter tells him that she was assaulted and shows the mark left from being hit, then does not believe her...what can I say. Nothing fatherly in that behaviour.

Any additional comments?

This was my least favourite of the series. It gets better with the last two books, but if I was reading them in order I probably would not have continued after listening to this one. Any one that passes on this and listens to the others won't be missing anything.
