VERY ENJOYABLE BUT BEWARE.....

I love L.F.'s books so this was an automatic download for me. However, this is actually 4th in the Men Who Walked the Edge of Honor series - When You Dare, Trace of Fever, Savor the Danger then this one.

That said, I hadn't realised this and it was still a very enjoyable listen about Arizona who was sold into slavery and prostitution by her father at an early age but she's now free and determined to seek revenge on any other prostitution rings. She tries it alone but finally is forced to seek the help of Spencer and his fellow team members then slowly her vulnerability starts to show as well as her building passion for Spencer.

Worth my credit? Definitely - it's got a lot to it, but it may have been even more enjoyable if I'd first listened to the others and in order.

Disappointing at best

I bought this book because I loved the first three in the series but this is quite different. It is VERY slow, in fact 95% of the book is about Arizona's catharsis. It's really only about Spencer trying to help Arizona come to terms with her past and move on. All very admirable but there is no real story beyond that and nothing really happens. Not really helped by the narrator who reads very slowly.

Even the characters are not as engaging as those in the first three books. I found Arizona to be intensely annoying and couldn't understand why Spencer fell in love with her or why the other characters were so desperate to make her part of their family. She is ungrateful, constantly pushes people away, puts herself purposely in danger..... not a character I ever really cared about.

I persevered with the book, hoping it would pick up but......... it never did. It's a very poor relation to the other books in the series. If you loved Jackson, Trace and Dare don't look for the same kind of book here. If you are looking for some action and adventure with your romance you you might want to look elsewhere.

Worth the Wait!

I have been waiting for this book to be recorded since we first met Arizona and Spencer! I think Jim Frangione does a great job, and originally found this series by searching through the books he has recorded. I really enjoyed the story and the buildup of Arizona and Spencer's relationship.

Great book to read & listen to

Loved this book. The narrator was great. He was Spencer. With his smooth attitude, never getting mad, laid back, kind. The whole series is great. I loved Arizona. Would surely recommend this audible book!!!!!

A Perfect Storm

I was not sure how much I would like this one....I was not sure if I liked Arizona when we met her in Savor the Danger (Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, #3) but she really grew on me in this one. After everything she has survived she is still fighting to right the wrongs and also for acceptance for who she is. Spencer is a total alpha male and really needed to pull his head out of his ass...while I really liked him the one thing that really bugged me was his initial need to fix Arizona . The only one who really see's and understands who Arizona is is Chris (he is the smart one after all). Eventually everyone comes around and see's that yes, Arizona can hold her own and she really is okay as is...and yes Spencer does get his head out of his ass and proves he is a good guy after all.

While the narrator on this one is a good narrator in general (I have listened to him narrate other books and liked him), I found him to be a bit to flat for this story, there is a lot of emotion and he did not really convey that, while not a "monotone reader" there was not a lot of emotion expressed in his reading.

Love 2 have me some Spencer !

Any additional comments?

I have enjoyed all of the books in this series but found this one just l little under par of the rest. Sill enjoyable but not as much hotness and spice. I really did enjoy Spencer and his perfect hunkiness and adored Arizona's unbelieving naive nature. Jim Frangione narration was perfection as always. Sad to have the series end and wish there were more books to come.

Slow and slower....

Any additional comments?

I had been looking forward to this when the third book in the series had some pretty good humor. Unfortunately, I agree with Dee. Spent too much time on Arizona's issues. This book had the most potential thinking that Arizona and Spencer both appeared to have some personality but in the end fell short.
And for some reason, the narrator read sooooo slow. Like each sentence needed to be dramatized. UUUhhggg...
