Publisher's Summary

Bestselling author Brenda Novak unearths love in the darkest of places.

When Maximillian Wilder hides his noble identity and joins the notorious body snatchers known as the London Supply Company, the last thing on his mind is love. He’s worried about Madeline, his vanished half sister, who was last seen in the company of Jack Hurtsill, the gang’s conscienceless leader. Raiding graveyards, stealing corpses, and selling them to medical colleges as dissection material is dirty work, but Max knows he must gain Jack’s trust. He’s determined to find out what happened to Madeline - and to bring Jack to justice if she was murdered for the coin her body could earn.

Beautiful, spirited Abigail Hale, daughter of the surgeon at Aldersgate School of Medicine, detests the challenging, hard-bargaining Max almost as much as Jack. But she must procure the necessary specimens if she is to save the college and her father’s career. She believes she is going to be successful - until Jack double-crosses her. Then she’s swept into a plot of danger and intrigue, one where Max must intervene to protect her, no matter the risk to his plan…or his heart.

EXCELLENT!!!

Each book I read by Brenda Novak seems to become my favorite until I read the next one and decide it's my favorite! I also highly recommend Honor Bound and Of Noble Birth. Through the Smoke is another good one I've read. Now, I'm off to find my next favorite!

A Matter of Grave Concern

The story was very good and kept my attention. It did not lag with any prolonged boring sections. The narrator was great. one of the best I have listened to. I laughed out loud with the humour he added to the story. great romance.

Mystery Romance.

This was much better than I thought it would be, I thought it would be more shallow because of the soft looking cover. A young woman who is trying to break through the stereotype of "only men in the medical field", gets herself wrapped up with some very grizzly grave robbers. She is a smart and formidable character and it was exciting to see what crazy thing she would do next. The rest of the characters are colorful, ronchy and keep the story intriguing throughout. Their are some pretty steamy, well written sex scenes that flowed excellently with this story of Mystery and Romance. Michael Page had some really great voices and he did a believable job with the female voices. I would enjoy reading more stories with these characters.

Took a while but well worth it

I wasn't sure I was going to like this. I've read the Lady Darby series by Anna Lee Huber so the idea of anatomists was pretty familiar. This is a much different take on that and it worked. Although I pretty much guessed what would happen and wasn't surprised by events this was an enjoyable book. It take take a few chapters for me to really "get into it." The narration was quite good. This is my first Brenda Novak book (I don't care for contemporary romances) but I'll look into her other historicals.

Great Story!! Great Narration!

Wow this story was so good, and so much fun to listen too. I really liked the heroine, she was strong, smart, funny and witty. No whimpering whiny heroine in this book. The hero was, smart and sexy. They had some great chemistry and a couple of very nicely written sex scenes.

A good plot, story line that flowed very well. Lots of great dialogue throughout the book, which included some very good witty banter and some LOL moments with her clinical descriptions of sex. HA!

As for the narration. Michael Page did a fantastic job, he did a really good job at with the heroines voice. I am not usually a fan of male narrators, narrating Historical Romance Novels but he was great.

I totally recommend this read\listen.

A Matter of Grave Concern

This was a really great story. It was a little drug out but not bad enough to cause me to lose my interest. I loved the characters. And the narrator was to die for! No pun intended lol.

Entertaining for what it is

If you like historical romance, this one is fun. Nice performance. It's a good deal more romance than history though.

throughly enjoyable

Thoroughly enjoyed the book I was rooting for the characters to come together. narrator was pleasant to listen to and had enough diversity in his voice to give the characters life.
