Publisher's summary

Friends since five years old. I got to marry my best friend. We were going to be a family. Or maybe not.

"Time of death...." the doctor said.

I won't forget that moment I looked over at Ellie-the paleness of her once rosy cheeks, the blue hue coating her perfect lips.

You promised me we would be together forever, I wanted to tell her. She gave me her forever, I told myself. Her forever just ended at 25.

"You need to say your goodbyes...." the doctor said.

My body is numb, and my heart hurts. Hurts like someone just ripped it out of my chest. Which is ironic.

"We are going to remove her heart now, Hunter. It was her wish to donate," the doctor said.

She never told me this. She never told me another woman would carry on with her beating heart. She never told me this woman knew me but wouldn't let me know her. She never told me if I should follow her heart, or if I should follow mine. She knew. And she could have told me.

Absolutely gut-wrenchingly beautiful story

Oh my gosh, this book gutted me from the very beginning.  I absolutely loved this story. Young, forever love ending way too soon at just the wrong time - the beginning of new life - leaving a father float through life alone.
And then, five years later, all hell beaks loose.  And boy does it! Lies, half-truths, secrets and mystery letters. The coincidences and undeniably small degrees of separation brings new meanings to the term 'small worlds'.  And out of all the ashes is the beautiful development of a brand new beginning.
I loved the audio book version. William Giammona was the perfect choice for the narrator's voice. The emotion and inflection he presented gave the story exactly what was needed to bring this book to life.

Great Narration

I'm not sure I would have finished this book if not for the narrator. Good idea for a story though.

I'm not crying

You're CRYING!

This book was beautiful and heartbreaking and I probably spent 6 of the 8 hours with tears in my eyes. I would love a book with Hunter and Ellie's early days.
