Publisher's summary

Bennett Cole had lived next door to Mitchell "Mac" Campbell, III for 18 years of his life, in the small town of White Acre. They'd never gotten along, never seen eye to eye, and never understood one another...not that they'd ever cared to try.

But when Bennett's so-called buddies ditched him at a party in the woods where he was assaulted and left for dead, Bennett pulled through. The emotional scars rendered him too terrified to go back to school and face his "friends" or his attackers. With little choice, his family packed up and left town.

Ten years later - at the request of his mother - Bennett returned to the place he'd grown up and the home he'd once felt safe to oversee the repairs before his childhood house was sold. The contractor? None other than Mac, the once annoying boy next door, who still lives there in the home his parents gifted him.

Being in such close proximity - working together every day to repair the Coles' family home - Bennett and Mac's contentious relationship goes from bad to worse as their personalities continue to clash. But their heated exchanges may not be as antagonistic as they seem. And when new information is revealed, can the men begin to see each other in a different light?

Contains mature themes.

Beautiful Perception

It truly shows how each individual has their own perspective on events and persons that transpires through life.

Interesting Characters

I loved not just the main characters, but the supporting characters also. It really highlighted how our perceptions can change and be wrong even with the best of intentions.

Good fun tale

Good character development, fun erotic scenes. Interesting beginning to story, covering several years to bring listener into the present. Love Sean's voice and tone changes for characters. He's a really sexy Mac.

Too long

Could’ve been condensed I think. I fell asleep a few times and felt like I didn’t miss anything. B is pretty whiny and the emotional growth between the main characters didn’t feel as genuine as I would’ve liked.

Nothing really

Excellent story. Enjoyed it. Although I cringe hearing effeminate men like Jaden. Otherwise great story

Great Listen

I love this book. Mack and Bennett are a cute couple. I love that he saved Bennett but did not jump up and expect anything in return. I did hate that Mack thought all these years he could have prevented the attack and thought it was his fault. That just tells you how his hart works.

A very sweet and a adorable book, though with a bit of a sad start.

Childhood Friends Reconnecting

A Different Light is a second chance romance with a huge dose of sweetness. The plot is pretty basic: two men who were childhood neighbors reconnect over a home improvement project. Through this project they find out that their preconceived notions of each other were skewed and they end up falling in love. The book focuses a lot on the personal growth that each character has to go through before they are really in place to have a stable and healthy relationship. I found the character development process to be really interesting and I was rooting for these boys to have their happy ever ending. I enjoyed the audiobook and though the narrator did a great job with all the character voices. The audiobook production was well done and enjoyable to listen to.

Stereotypical voices

The narrator's voice for Bennett and Jaden is Stereotypical Hollywood. If this was the authors intent when the book was written, it detracts from the story. I couldn't get past that to get to the heart of it.
