Publisher's summary

Stella Gunn is the lead singer and lead guitarist of the Blue Moon Gypsies, and Stella used to be Mace’s girl. But Kai “Mace” Mason broke up with her and the loss of him rocked her world. One night, Stella gets a call, late (again), from one of the members of her crazy band. She has to go play clean up (again) and runs into Mace (and a shed load of police) and ends up getting shot. Mace finds he doesn’t like it much that his ex-girlfriend got shot right in front of him, but it’s worse. A very bad man has thrown down the gauntlet, and all the Rock Chicks are in the firing line. Stella doesn’t want Mace to be the one to keep her alive, but she has no choice. Mainly because Mace isn’t giving her one.

Rock Chick Reckoning

If you’re wondering nope this isn’t my favorite one either, we are getting there. Though I did enjoy this book, I mean who wouldn’t its Mace for crying out loud.

This book is about Rock Chick Stella and Hot Guy Mace.

I think one of the things I enjoyed about this book over the others is that they were together before the book but had broken up.
So they had a different kind of past other than growing up together. Not that all the others were like that some were just connected in a different way.

Boy oh boy this book has action! This book has a lot of gun fire and suspense also quite a few twists as well I didn’t see coming.

Getting to know Stella and Mace’s story you see why they didn’t work the first time, they both kept their past to themselves. No one wanted to open up. Stella didn’t have a very loving environment growing up so when she got the affection and love from Mace she kind of used him up or that’s what she told herself.

‘For your information, it was the single most beautiful moment of my life.’ - Stella

Mace had a great sister and mother only things went bad and his sister was kidnapped and murdered in front of him. So that messed with his head a lot.

“Dance with me, Kitten,” he whispered.

None of this should be spoilers but either way I hide that encase anyone doesn’t want to know back story and wants to go in blind.

So now that things are coming to light they both still fight the pull, Stella wants them to be together then she doesn’t then Mace wants them to be together but Stella doesn’t it’s fun and witty and downright entertaining.

“Watchin’ you sing that, hearin’ the words, knowin’ what it meant, it was then I knew I loved you, Stella.”- Mace

Also 2 last things Mace calling Stella “Kitten” swoon! And the 5 years later at the end of the book with all the Rock Chicks is awesome!
Ok 3 things Jane, we get to know Jane’s character as the quiet employee that has been working at Fortnums forever. So when we get a little glimpse in to her mind.. Well I had to share.. :D

‘Jane decided in that second that Eddie and Jet were going to be her favorites for the day. She changed them every day depending on what she witnessed. Sometimes it was Lee and Indy. Other times, Hank and Roxie. Other, Jules and Vance or Luke and Ava, and now Mace and Stella. Today it was Jet and Eddie.’ - Jane :-)

I found myself muttering to/at Stella

What did you like best about Rock Chick Reckoning? What did you like least?

I liked the closeness of all the people in the story. The most-of-the-time cool head of "Mace"The bulldozer effect could make me laugh. What I liked least ? Stella. Okay she has issues. Okay she's mostly keeping it together some of the time BUT after a while I found myself muttering to her ... " Oh good Lord I can't believe you said that!" "Can she really be that stupid?" *Eye roll* When she should have been getting 'it' she sticks her head in the sand. Not seeing things as they are but in her own screwed up perception. Yikes. Of all the Rock Chicks I liked Stella the least.

If you’ve listened to books by Kristen Ashley before, how does this one compare?

I'm kinda new to Kristen Ashley's books. Although I started with Law Man and Motorcycle Man and now have a number of the Rock Chicks series ... This has all the drama, roller coaster ups and downs and passion of the other books. That part is solid. The story was good. I've liked others better, like the first Rock Chick and Rock Chick Rescue. I gave it a three overall and a five for the performance. I should/could bump up the 'story' to a four but *shakes head* the "Stella thing"

Have you listened to any of Susannah Jones’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This one is right in line with her other performances. I'm satisfied with how she read the parts of the different characters. Some people's reading is like nails on chalkboard. Not Susannah. She is good.

Do you think Rock Chick Reckoning needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There already is a follow up kinda with at least another book in the series after this one. If you mean continue on with Mace and Stella, their life together? No. Oh good Lord no. More stories in which Mace and Stella are a part of sure.

Any additional comments?

I am never moving to Colorado. Never. And Denver? I think I'd feel safer in L.A. Listening/reading these books is as close as I'd ever want to be even if it means I don't get my own Hot Bunch guy *sigh*

I'm in love with the HOT BUNCH!!

This was such a fun boo to listen to! I have all but devoured this entire series. As I was listening to this story i was captivated by how the hot bunch did not give up on the women they considered to be theirs.

Of course if I was one of those women I don't think that i would be as understanding and let them get away with bossing me around as much as the Rock Chicks do. And Mace is no different. He even (spoiler) had Stella handcuffed! But I still love him and the hot bunch!!!

The only downside was the epilogue. If you have read the premise for Ally's story then you know that she has to choose between Darius and Ren. In the epilogue of Rock Chick Reckoning you will find out which one she chooses, so if you want to be surprised then don't listen to the end of the book.

I would 100% recommend this series to anyone of my friend who are into women with attitude, hot men, steamy sex scenes, and some good old fashion butt kicking! this book as well as this series gets a 5 out of 5 across the boards!!!

I really enjoyed this one

Any additional comments?

Great story with twists that I didn't see coming. We get to hear about all the usual characters in the series, but the main focus is on Stella and Mace.I had a little trouble keeping the band members straight, but that's because I listened without using my Kindle. Sometimes I just need to see something in print to be able to completely comprehend it. That said, well done!

Just Great!

The characters in this story are wonderful, you fall in love with them. Susannah Jones does a wonderful job on the narration and brought the characters to life. The whole story is woven together perfectly and even the dog has a personality that I liked. This was my favorite of the Rock Chick books and I have read all of them now.

Rock chick love

What other book might you compare Rock Chick Reckoning to and why?

This is similar to the other books in the Rock Chick series. A solid installment for sure.

What three words best describe Susannah Jones’s voice?

Easy on ears

Any additional comments?

This is a very good book in the Rock Chick series. I think the only complaint i had was what most people complained about and that was the epilogue that gave away snippets of details for the following books. Again, Susannah is not my favorite narrator. Nor is she in my top 5. She does a decent job but I think I was spoiled previously so I wasn't as impressed as most people are with her.

She is...The Rock Chick

I’m feeling a little guilty. I doubted my faith, walked away and left someone alone too long. Yes, I’m sure Stella knew I’d come back for her eventually, but the time it took me was longer than it ever should have been. It’s OK now, the friendship has been re-established and I’m sure Mace will forgive me… one day. I only left because her connection to the band and Mace’s hurtful words upset me the first time I read them, but, this time, I listened to them and with Susannah Jones’ help I saw things a lot clearer. Deep down I know I should have just trusted KA, but the consequences of my actions are my own burden to carry. Now, I will move on and Jett and Eddie will hopefully forgive me too.

This is my first re-read/listen of Rock Chick Reckoning. Now that I’ve done it, I can’t believe I held off for so long. I mean Stella is The Rock Chick. She’s the lead singer of the Blue Moon Gypsies and really cool. There were a couple of reason why I originally thought I didn’t want to re-read it, but once I was into it, I could have slapped myself for holding off for so long.

Stella is the lead singer of the Blue Moon Gypsies, but she also fills the role of carer, guidance officer and hall monitor. The men in her band (besides Floyd) are a bunch of silly blokes who never grew up. They’re good looking, pull in the groupies and get into way too much trouble. This was one of the main reasons why it didn’t take priority in my KA re-read list. These guys drove me up the wall…and Stella put up with them. They play a vital role in Stella’s life and are pretty much her family, so I kind of understood why she did. Rock Chick Reckoning sees the band go through heartache and loss, but they do love and care for each other.

Mace, Kai Mason, Hot Bunch member and Hawaiian Hottie. This guy wears a few hats, but he’s also taken a few off as well. He’s an ex-surfing and snowboarding champion. He left both professions when he has to deal with a consequence of his father’s bad decision and became…someone who Lee would want to recruit. We don’t get all the details, but let's just say that he’s on par with Luke for a scary tough guy who could kill you in the blink of an eye.

So…Stella and Mace have a history. They had been going out until Mace broke up with her because of the band and Stella keeping a part of herself closed off from him. Stella was devastated and never fully recovered. A bad guy, Sid, is looking for revenge against Lee Nightingale and the Hot Bunch. His way of hurting the men the most is by targeting the Rock Chicks. Even though Stella and Mace haven’t been together for awhile, he knows that she is Mace’s weakness. The usual action packed madness follows and we are taken on the ride to see the bad guy come to justice and the good guy gets the girl.

Both Stella and Mace have family members that suck. Mace’s dad was a horrid man. His decisions led to death and devastation. Mace turned his back on his family and moved on the only way he knew how. Stella’s family were in blood only and I was glad to see that when she had to deal with them, Mace was there to hold her hand.

We get a glimpse into the Rock Chick’s lives and catch up with the couples that were already living their happy ever afters. Shirleen, Daisy, Todd and Stevie also make guest appearances. We also meet a certain federal officer who may or may not be someone we get to know a wee bit more in another series…it’s in the future, so I won’t say any more than that.

Rock Chick Reckoning audio was another awesome story narrated by Susannah Jones. I started this one as my companion for a New Year’s exercise challenge. Some days I didn’t want to exercise, but I did want to listen to more of my story, so I was motivated to do it. I’ve sat on my exercise bike laughing, crying and grimacing. My boys walked in on one of the days I was crying and that was a bit embarrassing. I somehow managed to time it that I listened to the sexy times while I was in recovery, I’m not sure squirming would have been good on a bike. Today’s bike ride was INTENSE. My reps were high and I can tell you in that last showdown at Stella’s house with guns blazing and mad dashes to safety had my heart PUMPING. Maybe I need to read/listen to a few more intense books while I exercise.

So to finish off…Mace and Stella are now in with the other Rock Chicks as one of my favourite audios. I think we’ll categorise Rock Chick Reckoning as the Rock Chick to listen to when I need someone who understands what it’s like dealing with a family that drives you up the wall.
