A male Deathstalker regains consciousness....

Waking up to discover the apocalypse had begun, and to find that I was no longer human, was not how I thought my day would go. But then again, I supposed I was thankful to just have another day to begin with, considering I’d apparently been a mindless monster for the last several months.

The city was a mess, with many buildings destroyed by massive black towers that rose into the sky like enormous thorns. And yet, despite all this, I was about to discover that the monsters and bizarre landscape weren’t the strangest things about the apocalypse.

At least, not if the visual hallucination that displayed game-like stats counted.

Prologue

As she got into position to strike, I quickly realized that stalking must truly come naturally to our kind, because the little demon proceeded to expertly sneak up on the man like a ninja, leaping onto his back and sinking her teeth into his neck.

I could hear the snap from here, as she broke his spine at the base of his skull, dropping him to the ground in an instant. However, the fact that I could hear it so loudly also meant that the other man did too.

He whipped his head around, just in time to see a four-legged creature dash behind another car.

Crying out in shock, he fired his gun a few shots after she had already vanished, only to run over to his partner in crime, continuing to point his weapon towards the car.

Little did he realize that she was already on the move the moment he glanced away.

Rise of the Deathstalkers is a full-length novel.

New to LitRPG

I’ve never listened/ read a LitRPG before and I was very disinterested honestly. However, the story is actually very well developed and the character’s are developed very well. The MC has drastically changed from the beginning of the story to the end of it. Can’t wait for the sequel to be on audible.

Like how this story is progressing

This is a pretty good story. I'm wondering when will book 2 be available. Character development is great too. Can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

Good but!

An excellent story. I really enjoyed it though I’m not sure if I really liked the main character. People with anger management issues and the type of personality he shows it’s not something I’d like to see the main character. I know the story tried to show that he had a softer side just hidden under his gruff exterior but it still feels like sandpaper. If it wasn’t for this fact I probably would’ve given this review five stars.

Fantastic story, BTW MC is always angry!

Language and sexual representations are far more well considered than many other books, so as to be read and appreciated by anyone, but young children. The main character is irritable and *always* angry, or at least a few words from anger, even when in a good mood.

The story is about being forced into a dark world of competition and being very close being to a video game character. It is also about being a very reluctant hero.

Pretty good so far..

1st Stupid thing: How does the mc not wonder immediately after eating the 1st monster if regular humans give more points?
2nd: The mc not realizing that the people attacking with gas mask on when he returns obviously have more info, and that he can get points from them. Dumb.
3rd: MC's internal dialog is annoying. Enough with "damnit" and "shit" over and over again. If you're going to have him use expletives all the time, then vary them. There are WAY to many better, and funner ones: "fuck", "mother fucker", "cock sucker" ,etc, etc.
4th: Sex ruins "innocence"? Are you an idiot? It "ruins" innocence about the same as finding out Santa isn't real- as in not at all. It's just a simple fact of a good, decent, life. Unlike the insane amount of violence she's endured- from seeing her sister with a knife sticking out of her to eating and brutally killing monsters. Get real.

Original story.

It's a solid story, Eckstein did that thing again with the MC where they're realistic and not always valiant and likeable. He's a person with flaws and grows as the story goes on.

great story so far but

so I really like where the story is going I don't like the MC at all he's arrogant and selfish and I'm sure it's going to change but it just makes me not like him at all and he's an MC for Christ's sake he should like everyone but that's just me
