Acerca de esta escucha
In 1836, when she was nine years old, Cynthia Ann Parker was kidnapped by Comanche Indians. This is the story of how she grew up with them, mastered their ways, married one of their leaders, and became, in every way, a Comanche woman. It is also the story of a proud and innocent people whose lives pulsed with the very heartbeat of the land. It is the story of a way of life that is gone forever.

Before Sam Houston became the father of Texas, he was a young man who had run away from his home in Tennessee to live among the Cherokee. He came to love Tiana. As the Cherokee would say, she walked in his soul. But Sam was a white man, and Tiana, a Cherokee. And the dreams each had for their land and their people were far apart.

Drums along the Mohawk, Walter D. Edmonds' masterpiece, is not only the best historical novel about upstate New York since James Fenimore Cooper, it was also number one on the bestseller list for two years, only yielding to the epic Gone with the Wind. This is the story of the forgotten pioneers of the Mohawk Valley during the Revolutionary War. Here Gilbert Martin and his young wife struggled and lived and hoped.

A Great Journey of Love and Life...
This is one of the most emotional books I have come across in a long time. The story pulled me and my heart in. I dont think I have ever cried with both joy and sorrow in any book. This book did help you see what a world of difference there was between the White culture and the Indian culture. It is one book that I will come back to time and time again like a few others I listen to each year. If you liked this book you will also injoy Sara Donati Into the Wilderness Series.

Astounding novel.
Ride The Wind is the most remarkable source of historical fiction I have ever read. I have read it 5 times since I was a girl and love that it is in my Audible library. Would have prefered the lovemaking scenes were not censored, however.

Texas, Quanah Parker, Cynthia Ann Parker, Comanche
Ride the Wind
By: Lucia St. Clair Robson
I listened slowly to the audible version of this epic western story. The personal battles of Comanche against the immigration of Texas pioneers. The story is based in the remarkable research of Lucia Robson. The book starts from the beginning of small settlements that brought horses and pots, and children to the people. Cynthia Ann Parker (Nauduah) was 6 years old when she was kidnapped in a violet raid against the Parker fort at the edge of the settlements. She was captured by Wanderer, a brave who had promised his family that he would bring a child to replace a child who died in another raid. Their long lives showed the changes of the Comanche people as the Texan population bloomed on the plains. They find power, love and family in their remarkable tale. They fought against the raids of Kiowa, Caddo, Wichita, Tonkawa, Kichiwa, Karankawa, and Texas Rangers. They battled the elements, and raids or American soldiers. Their historic lives inspired Quanah Parker a renown Comanche warrior that held out against the Texas expansion, and the violence of the Western Movement.
Lucia Robson is a remarkable researcher, but that is nothing compared to her ability to write the history she researches. Ride the Wind, takes the reader to the staked plains of Texas, at the end of the Indian wars. Showing the pride of the people, their ability to adapt and thrive in hostile environment of the broad Texas plains. She shows the remarkable change of Western settlement to the native tribes, how hunger, winter and draught caused the last of the Comanche to reservations and the struggle with the white men.

Held spellbound!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Couldn't read it fast enough. Each chapter left me wanting more. I felt like I was living alongside each character and felt their pain, joy, and sorrow. I whole heartedly recommend this book, it is a must read. Would love to see it played out on the "big" screen.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ride the Wind?
When Wanderer and Cynthia finally displayed their love for each other.
What does Laurie Klein bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Laurie is fantastic. Her voice brought the characters to life. She is so good you can actually tell the characters apart when they are having a conversation. One of the best readers I have heard.
If you could take any character from Ride the Wind out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Wanderer. I would love to hear more about the indian way of life. They did not have it easy. He not only was a warrior but a compasonate caring person when he needed to be.
Any additional comments?
Just get the book. You will not be disappointed.

Pure Excellence!
I have read and reread this book a dozen times over the years. It is an excellent depiction of the time period and historically accurate. While the Main character and some of the other Players are real... The story is muchly fabricated. but yet,. true to the main story. Cynthia Ann Parker and her Son, Quanah, were very real People. The book is very enjoyable. The Narration is very good, as well. One of my favorites!
