Publisher's summary

Do you ever wonder what is happening inside your brain when you feel anxious, panicked, and worried? In Rewire Your Anxious Brain, psychologist Catherine Pittman and author Elizabeth Karle offer a unique, evidence-based solution to overcoming anxiety, based in cutting-edge neuroscience and research.

In this audiobook you will learn how the amygdala and cortex (both important parts of the brain) are essential players in the neuropsychology of anxiety. The amygdala acts as a primal response, and oftentimes, when this part of the brain processes fear, you may not even understand why you are afraid. By comparison the cortex is the center of worry - that is, obsessing, ruminating, and dwelling on things that may or may not happen.

Pittman and Karle offer simple, specific examples of how to manage fear by tapping in to both of these pathways in the brain. As you listen, you'll gain a greater understanding of how anxiety is created in the brain, and as a result you will feel empowered and motivated to overcome it.

The brain is a powerful tool, and the more you work to change the way you respond to fear, the more resilient you will become. Using the practical self-assessments and proven-effective techniques in this book, you will learn to literally "rewire" the brain processes that lie at the root of your fears.

Very helpful information

This books offers a lot of great information on how anxiety happens and works in the body. I’d say that it certainly helps to have the names for certain things and knowing their processes in order to understand and thus help combat anxiety. I’m glad I purchased this.

Extremely interesting - and extremely helpful.

This book was a pleasant surprise. A combination of brain science and practical advice in handling different types of anxiety. The science part is explained in an understandable manner and held my interest. The practical advice is also well explained and done in a kind, heartfelt way. I was able to use it right away to handle things in a different way which was truly a relief. The reader is very good with a pleasing voice that was easy to listen to. Very happy I found this book since it's quite different than other self-help books I've read in this arena. Highly recommend.

Great information

The information in this audiobook is fantastic. The narrator sounds nice but speaks with a deliberate and monotone voice that puts me to sleep sometimes.

Very Helpful

I got this audio book to accompany the physical copy I also purchase. In short it is very helpful. A lot of good useful exercise with proven science to back up what they are presenting. The first half of the book explains how the brain works and the second half is how to actually rewire your brain. If you are dealing with anxiety of any type definitely check out this book.
