Publisher's summary

For 24 winters, the blond child had been held captive by the Indians. Now rangy, raw-boned Ben Allison set out to heat up a stone-cold trail and bring Amy Johnston home.

He was armed with only an old mountain man's map, a cheap gold locket, an ornery pack mule, and his army Colt. It was an impossible mission leading straight into hostile Indian country. Ben was keenly aware that the search for Amy could very well be his own death hunt.

Awesome

this was a great story. previews before stated foul language, however, I didn't hear any. The story follows white men Indians and half breeds banding together for one very good purpose.

Return of the Tall Man

This is one of the best western stories I've heard in a long time. The characters are great and the narration excellent. I believe this would make a really good movie. Those were some violent times to have lived and made some very strong men and women. The story is well worth listening time. -Troy J. Matagorda,Texas

Clay Fisher/Will Henry - best of the best

Wonderful story line. The book had the usual easy sense of western humor that is characteristic of this author - nothing contrived - best humor I’ve ever seen/heard in a book, western or otherwise. With my earbuds in, I would at times bust into laughter before knowing if anyone was around. Narrator did a great job with native accented English - very authentic/believable.

Brave Loyal Man

This was a long journey of self discovery teaching Ben about himself without the aid of past memory.

This was an awesome story. It appears slow at first and doesn’t make any sense but as you continue to listen, it just gets better and better. the character development is incredible.

Good listen for all

If you like, westerns and enjoy a good narration, this is definitely a book for you. I enjoyed listening to this audible book and the fact that it came free with my membership was a huge plus. I would’ve gladly used a credit on it.

An easy read

The author, Clay Fisher, is the pen name of Henry Wilson Allen (1917-1991). He was a well-known author and screenwriter. He wrote under a number of pseudonyms: Will Henry, Clay Fisher, Heck Allen. Most of his screen plays were under Henry Allen.

I started reading this book but due to several emergencies it was about two months before I could get back to reading. The book was mostly about several different Native American tribes which I found most interesting.

If you are looking for a good yarn with a touch of history, this book will fill the bill.
The book is seven hours and fifty-three minutes. John Lescault does a good job narrating the book.
