Ingo Swann
Resurrecting the Mysterious brings together two long-lost manuscripts by renowned psi researcher Ingo Swann—The Hidden Revelation and Beyond the Gods’ Devices—discovered years after his passing. For the first time, listeners can experience what Swann envisioned as his “grand unified theory” of human experience and consciousness.
In The Hidden Revelation, Swann explores the inward journey of awareness and what it truly means to be awake. In Beyond the Gods’ Devices, he looks outward, examining the greater reality that connects us to the numinous—mysteries still beyond the reach of science.
Together, these works suggest that the paranormal is not separate from reality, but part of an expanded reality interwoven with quantum theory, the observer, and something far deeper. A profound and thought-provoking collection, Resurrecting the Mysterious invites listeners to reconsider the very nature of consciousness.
Note: These reprints of Ingo Swann’s titles are offered for educational and inspirational purposes. They reflect the author’s personal experiences and perspectives and are not intended as medical, psychological, or professional advice.

A little strange, and sometimes difficult to listen to.

What is not immediately obvious—despite being stated—is that this book is a compilation of at least three separate works, including Beyond the Gods’ Devices and The Hidden Revelation along with several essays that collectively represent Ingo Swann’s most comprehensive exploration of psychic understanding. It was found after his death and was considered to be his "unified theory" of the human psychic condition.
These pieces are not seamlessly woven together, and at times the structure can feel disjointed. That said, even if the material had been presented as a single, unified volume, repetition would still be required. The ideas themselves are so profound and mind-bending that slow, iterative engagement is unavoidable.
One of Swann’s greatest contributions in this book is his detailed breakdown of how human understanding has shifted over millennia—not through biological or physical change, but through changes in mental frameworks. He traces this evolution through language itself, examining how definitions recorded in dictionaries have changed over time. In doing so, he demonstrates that meaning shapes perception—and perception shapes ability.
Swann makes a compelling case that many innate human capacities did not disappear; they were filtered out. He argues that the combined influence of institutional religion and the rise of logic-and-reason movements in the 1600s fundamentally altered how reality was interpreted, narrowing what was considered acceptable perception. This shift did not eliminate human potential—it obscured it. The abilities still exist for those willing to shed inherited mental veils and remove the filters that limit what can be perceived.
If you truly want to understand what is undoubtedly Swann’s greatest work, you must approach it the way he himself suggests: with dedication. If you are listening to the audiobook, I strongly recommend listening multiple times. Step away for days, weeks, or even months—then return and listen again. Each pass reveals something new and reinforces what you had previously captured.
That is how the wisdom in this book is acquired.
And that is how it becomes your own.
Review of Resurrecting the Mysterious by Ingo Swan

Unfortunately, the narrator employed by the publisher for this production makes it almost impossible to listen to. Mr Hollingsworth has been allowed to treat this as an opportunity to practice his generic American accent, which has resulted in repeated errors in pronunciation of words and, worse still, in letting the impact and meaning of certain passages to be sacrificed to the narrator’s wish to “sound authentic”.
If having the book read in an American accent was essential, then an American narrator ought to have been employed. If there were production constraints that meant someone based in the UK was an unavoidable necessity, then it would have been preferable to forget about accent and instead focus on minimising errors in pronunciation, delivering on the intended meaning of Ingo’s manuscript through intelligent narration and interpretation and then ensuring the highest and most consistent audio quality possible (which is not the case here). So again, I’m grateful to have any version at all, but I would love one day to listen to a more professional production that avoids these needless problems.
