Publisher's Summary

Some threats hide in plain sight....

Two years have passed since Jed Welch escaped the ruins of New York City. The monsters have begun vanishing from parts of the world, and rebuilding efforts are underway. Isolated communities and their militias are starting over, slowly reclaiming cities and countryside alike.

Now a sergeant, Jed leads a squad providing security on Galveston Island, as they await the arrival of the first refugee ships. When a saboteur's bomb threatens everything, Jed and his people find themselves cut off from support and communication. With nothing but the gear they carry to help them survive, the squad hunts the saboteur across the Southern Texas landscape and discovers the truth behind the Variants' disappearance.

Narrator

Overall it was a good finish to the series. Narrator needs work on female voices.

Extinction Cycle Universe

Book 3 in the trilogy doesn't disappoint. If you've enjoyed the Extinction Cycle or Dark Ages you'll like this. I loved hearing about changes in the variants, the collaborators and the bats! Jed's character development is amazing as well. The only part I wasn't thrilled about was, of course, the end.

nicely done

Sikes wrote an amazing story set in Smith's ecycle world. Jed started out barley surviving and is now a strong leader. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes smith's other books and his expanded universe. Pinchot made this book come alive like he usually does. Great Job.

Great Book!

Book have a good amount of action and pace. None of those so call romance which is good. Storyline is also solid. Looking forward to a sequel if there are any.

Great Story-hard to understand Jed

I enjoyed the storyline and the trilogy. It was hard to understand Jed’s words in many areas because of the drawl. He definitely did not sound like he was from NY, more like the Byou.

Could not understand most of the dialogue of 2 characters.

The reader he’s very talented and does a great job with all the personalities. Unfortunately, I was not able to make out what a couple of the characters were saying. One a deep gravelly southern voice. I was the mini books and this is a first for me.
The story was certainly written well. After eight chapters I had to give up.
But that’s just me. This author is very well respected.

This Ney York series over all is just ok

This book is the best one in the Extinction cycle New York series. I really hate how the narrator sounds when he is doing the women's voices its like nails on a chalk board.

2 of the most annoying characters ever.

I love the extinction series, so was excited to listen to this book. 4 hours in, I couldn’t take it anymore. The 2 main female characters of Emily and Danica are 2 of the most useless, whiny, annoying characters ever written. They are useless for the story, any parts they are in drag the story along and have no purpose. I finally had to give up and delete the book. That college girl character is just so root-canal-level unbearable.

Aaaah! I can’t stand it any longer.

The Extinction curse strikes again, series starts off good and then they just keep pumping out storylines. This is just like TV CSI. same stories different names. Dumped it after three chapters

Interesting

Ok this is after the extinction cycle and is a good book and listen but for me it was not the best and a bit of a weird spin but also interesting, book 2 is the best but this was a good listen but I think at this one i am glad it is a trilogy.
