Publisher's summary

People always seem to talk about fate like a benevolent, guiding force that one can put their trust in. Those people clearly haven't been dragged through multiple lives without a choice.

Fate is the reason Lux finds himself in the back of a prisoner wagon, after being forced to choose between Lia's life or his freedom. Destined for the capital city Yoria and a trial before the king, Lux is ready for his life to be thrown back into turmoil once again. But fate, as always, has other plans for him.

Loved the story overall

I liked it alot except for the love plot. It felt rushed and unrealistic to me. If they were just more friends than lovers I would have enjoyed the story much more. Or even just dragging out the love plot abit too

The Relationship Was Over The Top

I would be very interested in the total counts of "I love you" in this book. There was one paragraph that had like 10! Honestly it was super cringy and detracted from the rest of the book.

The story was otherwise pretty good. and the performance was top notch.

Meh

the relationship devoured the book… I had hope that they would be separated or he would leave her behind for her own sake but noooo the relationship seams to be the main storyline while the adventure is a side story… not that it makes it a bad book just not my cup of tea. It’s well written with good characters, if you enjoy books that revolve around the relationship and the mc is more focused on the female lead than anything Ells then this is the book for you.

CW Batwoman

First book had promise, well written characters, and a interesting plot until the last couple of chapters where they get unbelievably captured. This second book however has the impotent angst turned up to 11. MC devolved into a whiney little baby 90% of the book. At least the author hasn't started jamming woke garbage down your throat (yet). But good lord this was a slog getting through.
