This is a story about never giving up on my version of the American Dream. An inspirational journey through life as a man proving to be resilient.

On several occasions after hearing me tell a few stories over the years, people mentioned that I should write a book about my life. It’s filled with interesting anecdotes that shaped the person that I am and as I looked back on it all, I came to the realization that my story is not all that unique. There are countless people in the world who have endured equally difficult lives and in many cases much worse than mine and my heart goes out to them.

For me, this was a monumental feat and I feel blessed to have accomplished it. I believe some people will relate to my book and others may be inspired. I spent 2 years working on it and in the beginning, I experienced horrible flashbacks that led to severe anxiety attacks. I sought therapy because I needed professional help in dealing with those powerful emotions. I opened Pandora’s box and left the lid open searching for “Hope” at the bottom of it.

The amount of work I had to put in just to heal from the PTSD was immense and I did not set out to create this book to share with the public. I wrote this book to personally heal and move past my years of depression and trauma. Many of my family and friends do not know this information and I wanted to share it with them so they could know me better. After my memoir was complete, I decided that I would also like to share it with the world in hopes that it may help someone understand that dark days don’t last forever because there will always be light at the end of the tunnel. You just have to keep fighting and moving forward.

I have a very similar background fighting my way out of the slums of Philadelphia for a better life in Los Angeles and I have the pleasure to say that I know that Lenny Bazemore personally; so reading this book has only affirmed to me his greatness as a person, and struck a fire inside of me to want more for myself, and believe that I can achieve it!
This book immediately draws you in and speaks directly to individuals who have had life test them. It takes you for a ride through the trials and tribulations of Lenny’s life and inspires the reader to see that all set backs, struggles, disappointments, and catastrophes can lead you to greatness in every dimension of your life if you’re Resilient and put in the work to achieve success! This would be an AMAZING Netflix series!!!

Truly An Inspiration

Misfortunes that lead to greatness is the best way to describe your memoir. You’ve overcame so much! After listening/reading your book, I am extremely inspired by your story! Hearing the passion in your voice as you recited your writings helped me imagine and picture the scenery and settings in which you’ve described. At times, while listening and reading along, man was I full of tears. Some sadness, some happiness. It resonated with me on a whole different level. Teresa, your wife is truly an angel on earth! I plan to read this book over and over again to remain inspired as I overcome many obstacles in this lifetime. Many of your words will become inspirational tools as a reminder to never give up, and I will always be reminded by you to “manifest your destiny”! Thank you for sharing your story with the world!

LIFE CHANGING MUST READ... BRAVO LENNY!!

As a fellow Norristown native and trauma survivor, I applaud the courage, accuracy, transparency, grit, determination, wisdom, inspiration, pride, gratitude & love this book embodies. I finished in 2 days (could have completed in one sitting had I not needed to process and deal with my own traumatic memories that tried to resurface). Lenny thank you from the depths of my heart for this gift to the world. I'm encouraged and ready to move forward in areas that have been paralyzed out of fear and lack of self confidence/worth, not to mention inherited ignorance. I thank your lovely wife Theresa for all that she is and has been to you and your family. What a phenomenal woman/friend/partner.

Loved this audiobook from beginning to end!

Lenny is both engaging and heartfelt as he recounts good and bad moments of his life with honesty and vulnerability. Listening to him speak about all his hard times, especially in Norristown, PA, where we grew up, brought tears to my eyes, and made me shout out loud. Each chapter unfolds with a sense of sincerity that resonates long after the audiobook ends. I liked it so much, I listened twice.
