Publisher's summary

Amy Wallace has made plenty of mistakes in her young life, but she didn't see this one coming. Chris Seger is a marine serving in Afghanistan. His life is forever altered by a single, fateful step. A mother of another Afghan war vet suffers a devastating loss, which changes the course of Finley's life for good. Finley is a mostly golden retriever, who suddenly finds himself alone and confused in a dog shelter. Later, he's brought to a local prison to be trained in a special program for female inmates. Could this prison actually become the place where Finley finally finds his freedom?

Rescuing Finley tells the story of how one rescue dog powerfully impacts three tragic lives and puts all of them on a road toward redemption and healing.

Excellent for Anyone Struggling with Life Issues

This book covers many topics have the ability to change lives for better! It's so informative I found myself checking out the details to discover they're absolutely true! Any solder battling PTSD, Depression, Disabilities, etc. should really give this audio a try. Even citizens battling above struggles or have many different disabilies can definitely qualifying! Written by a Veteran himself. I, myself, am disabled, though hate to admit my struggles..my husband struggles ptsd. The idea of a service dog trained to aid with physical, emotional, or various problems is a wonderful way to help a person &/or couple. Written as a fictional audio makes it even greater!! Thank you, Mr. Walsh & the wonderful Narrator for making a great story! I was blessed & look forward to the next audio! Some of these helpful blessings are costly. Others are absolutely free. This audio is completely encouraging!!! Looking forward to seeing what's available for our home! Also looking forward to the next in this series :) 10 stars out of 5!!!

Just a joy to read.

I hope there really are programs like the one in this book. I think this book should be taught in schools to teach respect for vets!

A lovely story

I found the story interesting and moving. It was pretty predictable, but overall I enjoyed it very much. The narration was very well done.

I think someone else said to get the tissues.

This is a story outside my normal reading. I was in the mood for a break from the end of the world books I love.

Finley is a keeper and I'm sure I'll listen to this again. I know there are other books by this author and I'll probably search those out.

The world is not perfect and full of butterflies. It would be nice. But it is full of good things that can happen to people who work to make the opportunities count. I liked all the characters. Some of it is a bit sugar coated and shined up, but because it's a good story and you want to have a happy ending, then you enjoy the sugar and over look the extra calories.

Be warned - at the end, get the tissues!

RESCUING FINLEY

Thought the story line good The narrator was good too. It just missed the mark in my estimation, however, it was a good dog story.

Happy tears

Although the story started out slowly, jumping around, I soon saw all the pieces fall into place and began to enjoy the story. I did cry both sad and happy tears, but the ending was perfect.

Heartwarming story

Nice story with issues of Vets suffering from PTSD and getting a service dog. The dogs are trained at a women’s prison, and we meet Amy, who is serving a 3 year sentence for shoplifting, and how training the dog, Finley impacts her life. A great story of turning your life around. Loved it and highly recommend this book. Look forward to listening to more of this authors books.

Great story

Only God could make something wonderful out of something tragic. Only a great author like Dan Walsh could tell the story. Hillary Huber does a great job narrating. I find her speed and tone just right. Recommend this story for everyone.

Nice book for a winter walk

I did enjoy this book. The story line is okay. You know where it is going but sometimes that's ok.

Why I didn't give it more stars? Too much repetition. Many situations are repeated by multiple characters. Maybe it was written this way - intended to help those with memory issues - one of the signs of PTSD. This book does a great job of addressing this issue. It does get annoying when binge listening.
