Publisher's Summary
It is a truth universally acknowledged that girls just wanna have fun.
Abandoned by her parents in favour of a sea view, middle-class Georgiana Ellers has moved to a new town to live with her dreary aunt and uncle. At a particularly dull dinner party, she meets the enigmatic Frances Campbell, a wealthy socialite and enchanting member of the in-crowd.
Through Frances and her friends, Georgiana is introduced to a new world of wild parties, drunken debauchery, mysterious young men with strangely alluring hands, and the sparkling upper echelons of Regency society.
But high society isn't all it's cracked up to be, and the price of entry might be more than Georgiana is willing to pay....
This witty romcom about status, friendship and first loves explores sex and consent in a time when reputation was absolutely everything, and feminism in a time when women's rights were a completely different story. It's full of lavish parties, handsome men on horseback and a sense of humour that would have given Austen herself a chuckle.
Performed by Bessie Carter (Bridgerton, Beecham House, Howard's End).
Critic Reviews
"A spirited Regency romcom, which tears up the Regency romcom rulebook! If Bridgerton and Fleabag had a book baby, it would be Reputation. I inhaled it in one sitting." (Sarra Manning)
"I had so much fun reading Reputation. It's a total blast." (Louise O'Neill)
"The perfect blend of period drama decadence with Mean Girls gossip. Beyond entertaining - high debauchery with a feminist swing." (Abigail Mann)

I don’t really mind but it does break the mood. It was really good tho.

A true delight!
This book was wonderful to read. Funny, engaging and just full of the most vivacious characters, some of whom I’d love to be my friends.

Rubbish
I should have judged this audiobook by its cover. Five minutes was enough. The humour is too contrived and the narrator doesn't pitch it correctly.

Terrible
I gave up by chapter four. An incomprehensible story that was mainly in a young girl's head and a narrator who spoke too fast and struggled to differentiate voices clearly. Wish I could get my credit back.

Absolutely excellent
I devoured this audiobook. The writing is so sharp, and feels very modern while keeping true to the time period in which the story is set. I absolutely loved it. Bessie Carter narrated it flawlessly. Thank you!

Brightened up my bad day
A great cast of fun and lovably flawed characters and a witty writing style that had me laughing out loud multiple times. I’ll definitely read whatever Lex Croucher writes next and put this one in the pile of books to come back to whenever I need a smile.

A joy to listen to
Croucher's writing is captivating, with just the right amount of cringe to keep you hooked on what Georgiana could possibly do next. I really hope there are more books, this was fabulous.
Would recommend if you want to be a fly on the wall of a funny, embarrassing, coming of age journey set in the regency era.

Captivating and charming
All the charm of an Austen classic without having the barrier of dated language. The central character Georgiana felt relatable especially to any introvert who has felt themselves quietly playing along to get along with the crowd. Issues of abuse, assault, poverty and power were all touched upon delicately. I am looking forward to reading the authors other book “Infamous” and the upcoming “Art and Gwen are not in love”

A good light read
Enjoyable and predictable. Georgiana is an entertaining if not frustrating lead character at times. A happy ending for all.

Different take on Austin
If you are a fan of Jane Austin you should try this book. I enjoyed the storyline and found the book interesting. The narrator was perfect for this book.
