Publisher's summary

It doesn't take too much living before we realize that life never goes quite the way we want it to. But when things get hard and we don't understand what God is doing, what is our first impulse? Is it to resist him and run away like Jonah? Or is it to trust him even while trembling in fear of suffering like Habbakuk?

In this powerful exploration of God's often mysterious and counterintuitive ways, Dr. Larry Crabb challenges listeners to seize the opportunities for growth and maturity that come our way when we experience troubles and failures. Rather than pushing back against adversity, he invites us to look closer at what God is doing in our lives when it feels like he is far from us. Unpacking the stories of two very different prophets, Crabb lights the way to a life of resting in the goodness of a God who is always working out his plan for our lives.

Had to keep rewinding.

Why you ask? The content was great as everything I’ve ever read of Larry Crabb’s the reading was just too rhythmic. Great voice but not great style of reading to keep one engaged. On several different occasions I tried, thinking it was just me. I was just tired or preoccupied. Sadly on every occasion I found myself drifting away from the narrator until I heard something that startled me back into reality. Then rewinding to delisted to what I had missed.

I’m an avid audible guy. Love Larry Crabb. Not sure I’ll finish this book via audible.

Great book! It explains the real Gospel!

It gives you a clear view of what God's desire is. To conform us to the image of his Son and not to make life go the way we think it should.

Excellent read

It has been a long time since I have read a book by Larry Crabb and I forgot just how deep his books can be. He contemplates many of the hard questions about who is God meant to be in our lives rather than the box we have built for him. It is easily one of the best books| have read in some time.

Reader very hard to listen to

The book is incredible, but the reader very difficult to listen to and focus on the words.
