Publisher's summary

Ten years ago, a breakthrough book launched a ministry that has helped more than one million people overcome this world and win the battle for their hearts and minds. Now Neil Anderson has revised and expanded Victory Over the Darkness for a new generation of listeners, outlining practical and more productive paths to Christian growth based on Christ's promise: "You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

Victory Over the Darkness emphasizes the importance of believing and internalizing the cardinal truths of Scripture as a base from which to renew the mind and fend off Satan's relentless attempt to convince us that we are less than Christ empowers us to be.

Steps to freedom!

This book is a wonderful book introducing the Steps to Freedom in Christ. Neil Anderson narrated his own book so you definately know what the author was expressing during the writings. I recommend this book to anyone struggling with circumstances and life in general. This book will explain why and how these feelings rise in someone and how to regain the peace and faith in God.

Who are you?

I have this book in paperback, so this audio is a review for me. It was comforting and renewing to internalize again. In a conversational tone, (with a few chuckles along the way), Dr. Anderson reminds you WHO YOU ARE in Christ, which enables you to "fight the good fight". It's like having him sitting in your living room with you or having a cup of coffee with him at your dining room table. I recommend it to all Christians. After reading this book the first time, I had an online conversation with a sister who obviously had not heard these things at her church. In the course of the conversation, she commented, "well who do you think I am, some princess, or something?" My answer was, "not in and of yourself, but by virtue of who you are in Christ, yes, you are a princess". Some of the chapter titles: "Who are you?" "Forever different" "See Yourself for Who You Really Are" "Something Old, Something New" "Becoming the Spiritual Person You Want to Be" "The Power of Positive Believing" "You Can't Live Beyond What You Believe" "Winning the Battle for Your Mind" "Healing Emotional Wounds from Your Past".
This is not a book on spiritual warfare, per se, but if it interests you, he has written "The Bondage Breaker" and "The Beginner's Guide to Spiritual Warfare", among others.

Helped me know who I truly am

I've listened twice and I expect to listen a few more times shortly. Why? Well, something in the telling of it really brought home that I don't need to try to be what I already am: God's child. Hallelujah!

the best tagline for this book: For God's Children: Stop trying to be what you already are

Enjoyed hearing Truth. Made my heart sing.

What about Neil T. Anderson’s performance did you like?

Different from hardcopy

My small group is studying this book, and it turns out the audiobook is different from the hard copy. Which also means it is different from the study guide. Overall it is a good audiobook, but i couldnt figure out why the study guide seemed to have unrelated questions, and i seemed to be out of sync with the rest of my group.

Content is good but...

I hate to say this but I couldn’t finish this. The presentation / reading of this material is garbage. I this is a book where it’s better to get the printed version. The author “reads” it but seems to be rushing through it and it really just sounds like it’s just talking. It’s very monotone and then there is a completely different voice that reads the scriptures. To top it all off, there is some cheesy music between chapters.

Down to earth and to the point to gain victory over the darkness. Full of scripture and testimonials to guide people to truth and forgiveness. Will definitely go back to this book for wisdom.

Does not follow along with the physical book.

I love to use both the audio and physical books for study. I follow along in the book while the author reads it to me. This audio does not even come close to being able to follow along in the book. Typically a book will be off from the audio a couple words here and there but this is far beyond that. However if you just want the audio the actual author is the narrator of this audio, which I love. Worth the purchase if you don’t mind not being able to follow along in the book.
