Publisher's summary

"Why is it that we soon forget the very one we long for? Why are knowledge, understanding and judgment so alluring to us? When will that tree be cut down forever and never again tantalize and entice us to run from life and to embrace death?"

Let's go back to the garden, where we can dance with our Papa God. Do you remember what it was like? In Until Now: My Walk with God... So Far, Roland Filbrun takes us on a poetic journey through his own experiences with love, with disappointment, and most of all with the faithfulness and fierce love of our amazing God. Roland shares his journey and insights from a faith-filled life lived to the fullest. From his first experiences with the ever-alluring forbidden fruit to his wrestling with legalism and finally to God's heart-altering revelations received during and since his traumatic brain injury, this audiobook will take you on a journey with Papa you will never forget and it will challenge you in your own walk of faith.

Review by a close friend of the author.

Book Review: Until Now

Until Now I haven't written many reviews because I don't like spoilers. So as not to spoil the drama for you I'm going to try to stick mainly to events and people who are not in the book. Such as myself. From the moment my friend started using actual names of people that I know I wondered when and where my name would appear. My anticipation intensified in the afterward where my name finally appears in the phrase: "people I forgot to mention." I attribute that to drain bamage or to Yahweh knowing that it would be too glorious for me to handle having my name inscribed in this book of a lamb's life.

If Roland Filbrun was schizophrenic I would be his bad side. Roland is diplomatic. I am problematic. Notwithstanding we have enjoyed many good times together and some shenanigans.

I felt like a ghost throughout Until Now because many times I was well within the sidelines.

I think that I knew Roland before he knew me because I was just a shy guy and he was outgoing. I grew up in the same tight subculture as Roland but in a different state. When I was 17 my family moved to Ohio where I became good friends with two of Roland's acquaintances. One who was a bit skeptical of Roland's spiritual exploits and the other who shared one of the first cell phones I ever saw with him every other weekend. I will mention their names later unless I forget.

My first real encounter with Roland was on a job where I was a plumbers helper and he was a trim carpenters apprentice. Roland had invented and installed a spring lever in his lunch box making it impossible to close the lid unless there was an eating fork holding the spring lever in place. I'm not sure why he felt the need to go to so much effort because with a hammer and a hard surface a spoon can be fashioned out of copper tubing.

Until Now is an accurate book. I know because I had been in many of the scenes. I was at Bob Evans where we held our secret conspiracies to wrest the scriptures to our own construction. I was at promise keepers where I secreted Roland away and showed him a movie which to this day he thinks was a vision. Actually that really was a vision, I didn't have anything to do with it because I was jumping around to "I am free to dance." I was a power point lyrics and light show guru for Roland's a cappella rock band Cor22. A cappella literally means, something missing. Which reminds me that my name was not in Roland's book.

I was there when Roland was carrying a bible with him everywhere he went. In fact, in an attempt to be like him I bought a bible just like his and kept it with me just the same. We wore those things out! Those were the days before smart phones and YouVersion. There was eSword though, which Roland introduced me to because he's always been on the bleeding edge of technology.

Finally, spoiler alert, I was there when he got shot multiple times in the chest at point blank range. Luckily he wasn't wearing a vision proof vest!

I recommend Until Now because I think it is an accurate account of a spiritual life. I live in my head a lot and slightly to one side. Roland lives in the spirit a lot, which is that realm just outside of the head. He has done a fine job of telling his story and I think most humans will find it informative and compelling; especially those humans interested in forgiveness, reward, and walking in faith with Yeshua.

I listened to Until Now which is available on Audible.com. My good friend and the author narrates the book with extraordinary emotional intelligence. I listen to most of my books and always enjoy a good narrator. Roland did quite well! Of course I am biased because he also grills a mean burger!

God continues to work in your life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

God

Have you listened to any of Roland Filbrun’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Gods real plan for all our lives.

Any additional comments?

I too was raised in the Gb church. I thank God my parents and God shielded me from falling into the legalism that religions promote. Every religious group must guard themselves from legalism that separates us from God.
