Publisher's summary

Every church is driven by some controlling force: tradition, finances, programs, events, personalities, or even the building itself. But author and pastor Dr. Rick Warren, the founder of Saddleback Valley Community Church in California, believes that a church can only be truly healthy if it becomes "purpose-driven," built around the 5 goals Jesus stated in the New Testament. Dr. Warren's illuminating work outlines a proven 5-part strategy that will enable your church to become warmer through fellowship, deeper through discipleship, stronger through worship, broader through ministry, and larger through evangelism. By shifting the focus away from church-building programs, Dr. Warren emphasizes a people-building, inclusive process that will allow your church to grow without compromising its message and mission.

a must-read for any church leader

Would you consider the audio edition of The Purpose-Driven Church to be better than the print version?

I like using both at the same time

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

it would be impossible for me to listen to all of it at once. there's far too much information to process all at once

Any additional comments?

this book is so good all the leaders in my church are reading it now and I'm reading it for the second time.

A insight on church

I learned a lot about what should be going on in my church, and how I can help effect change. What had a great impact on me was, not the ideas oh, but how they were implemented. a must-read for anyone who wants to give more, and get more out of church

Disappointed

It is a pity that this wonderful book is not read by the author. Jay Charles is a good narrator, but he is unable to provide the inflections and convey the intended message as well as the author. I recommend the short version of the audiobook for this reasons.

Well worth your time to invest in this book.

This book points out the obvious things we miss in day to day ministry as well as some things that I have never considered.

Want to build a church?

This book is full of great resources and arguments for how and what to build in a great, purpose-driven church.

The performance is also pleasing, and the narrative lends itself well to audio. Except that I want to take notes every 5 minutes!

Amazing, it was amazing

What a wonderful experience I felt when I listen the audio of The purpose -driven Church. I have recognized the guidance of the Holy Spirit during the time that I have been serving as an elder. I recommend reading, as I've felt different after just simply hearing the message.
