I learned a lot!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Power of Unlimited Faith?

Firstable I’d like to say that I received this audiobook free for an honest review by the author, narrator, or publisher.
This book has inspired me to dig into God’s Word, the Bible, to increase my faith. It’s very motivational and I especially like that it contains the meaning of numerous original words in Hebrew and Greek, I learned a lot! The narration needed a little more emphasis and conviction here and there, but overall was good, and I got used to it. If you need to be motivated to read God’s Word and agree with Him, this is the book!

Onesided biblical perspective & arguably dangerous

As a born again Christian, having an M.Div in biblical studies, I find this book a bit difficult to review as I bring my own understanding of Scripture into the equation. However, since I graciously received a free copy of this book from the narrator in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the book, I will do my best.

Although I believe in the sovereignty and omnipotence of God, along with His ability to perform miracles in anyway (and through anyone) that he sees fit, I disagree with Kynan Bridges teachings in The Power of Unlimited Faith: Living in the Miraculous Everyday. In fact, I would argue that his teachings on miraculous everyday living is dangerous in much the same way as the prosperity gospel teachings of those like Joel Osteen. I say this because they base their teachings on some of the truths of Scripture, but not the entire truth, rather just the portions that fit their agenda. For example; in the case of the performing of miracles and healings that this author preaches and goes to great lengths, and in depth exegesis, to support his stance, he omits keys portions of Scripture that run contrary to his argument. Bridges' stresses that if Christians just had more faith, complete faith, in what they prayed for and desired, then God would "supernaturally" provide the signs and wonders (e.g. miraculous things) to justify their faith in Him. However, Bridges makes no mention of Paul's claim "The gospel is the power of God unto salvation." (Romans 1:16) The gospel, not signs and wonders is God's power at work. Or, "Jews demand signs, Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified . . . the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:22-23) and the "word of the cross is . . . the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18). Sign-seeking is a diversion from the power of Christ crucified. Jesus himself said, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign" (Matthew 12:39; 16:4).

My point being that the Bible, especially the New Testament and specifically the Gospels, should be taught in their complete context rather than just "cherry-picking" verses to form an one-sided argument for miraculous or prosperous living as promises from God for those that have more faith. Doing so is entering into dangerous territory; as Jesus warned, "For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect." (Matthew 24:24)

For these reasons, a book bearing partial truth whilst coming across as the whole truth, I am only willing to give this book 2-stars. Those 2-stars are based solely on the premise that the Scriptures referred to by the author were strongly supported and researched in the Greek. I have no doubt that Kynan Bridges knows the Bible, loves God, and wishes to encourage other believers . . . I just wish he would give the "rest of the story" as well.

As for the narration; C.J. McAllister does a great job and made for an easy listen.

My hope is that this review will be found to be helpful for others in making their buying and listening choices.

Get Your Miracles Now?

What is Faith? The author contends that faith is an act or response to God’s Will as known through His Word … and Faith is the currency of God’s Kingdom that allows you to “demand” God act on His promises. In other words … if you don’t get what you want from God, it is because of your poverty of faith. So the whole point of this book appears to be how to increase your faith so you can get stuff. This is a dangerous parallel to the so called “Prosperity Gospel” that frequently morphs into a we all get what we deserve and if you pull the short straw it is because of something you did or did not do attitude. There is soooo much wrong here I struggle to begin an appropriate critique. The problem is that there is also a lot that is actually pretty good before it jumps into heterodox theology using incomplete proof-texting and anecdotal miracle stories (some of which should have easily been medically confirmed … such as turning metal into bone). While I absolutely believe such miracles are possible, many of the miracles described should have in fact caused a significant stir in the secular communities and withstand their scrutiny … and so are likely to be very hard for many to accept. And then the explanation on why everybody doesn’t get the miracles they ask for is because we live in time and God lives outside of time? Yeah … weird. However, Bridges does a reasonable job of extracting context from the original Koine Greek terms found in the NT; however, there are also several research missteps … such as blaming primitive embalming techniques for the reason Lazarus’ body would smell days after death (unaware perhaps that Judaism actually prohibits embalming the dead). Such a lax approach to details undermines the over all message that ultimately comes from opinion in search of supporting facts.

The narration was decent for this genre.
