Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of The Lamb's Supper and Signs of Life comes an illuminating work on the Catholic Eucharist and its link to the Jewish Passover meal.

“Read this book. And don’t just read it. Pray about it. Reflect on it. And share it with others.” (Brant Pitre, author of The Case for Jesus)

In this brilliant audiobook - part memoir, part detective story, and part biblical study - Scott Hahn opens up new vistas on ancient landscapes while shedding light on his own enduring faith journey. The Fourth Cup not only tracks the author’s gradual conversion along the path of Evangelicalism to the doorsteps of the Catholic faith, but also explores the often obscure and misunderstood rituals of Passover and their importance in foreshadowing salvation in Jesus Christ.

Revealing the story of his formative years as an often hotheaded student and earnest seeker in search of answers to great biblical mysteries, Hahn shows how his ardent exploration of the Bible’s Old Testament turned up intriguing clues connecting the Last Supper and Christ’s death on Calvary. As Hahn tells the story of his discovery of the supreme importance of the Passover in God’s plan of salvation, we, too, experience often-overlooked relationships between Abel, Abraham, and the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt. Along the way, Hahn reveals how the traditional fourth cup of wine used in the concluding celebration of Passover explains in astonishing ways Christ’s paschal sacrifice.

Rooted in Scripture and ingrained with lively history, The Fourth Cup delivers a fascinating view of the bridges that span old and new covenants and celebrates the importance of the Jewish faith in understanding more fully Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.

INCREDIBLE!

I am so grateful to have been able to listen to this book during this Lenten season. My understanding of and enthusiasm for the Catholic faith grows with each and every Scott Hahn book that I read. I look forward to reading this one, again, when I have the book in print!

Beautifully done!

Dr. Hahn draws us into the Passover as we've probably never considered, as Christ led his Apostles through that last Passover.

Eye opening

I am not Catholic but have read most of Scott Hahn’s books and agree with him on most things. I go to an evangelical church and am very involved in teaching and other ministries there but also go to a nearby Catholic Church occasionally to really worship. As I told the priest there, our church does a good job with praise but not a good job worshiping. I do not like to here Catholic bashing from people in my church and feel his books have helped me explain to others the real doctrine of the Catholic Church and not what they assume as true. My hope is that we can celebrate our commonality and minimize our differences and feel Scott does that very well.

Excellent

Overall a excellent story of conversion but so much more. Arthur Morey is my favorite narrator and Scott Hahn is a first class educator and writer. Worth the purchase.

Wonderful book that enriches!

A very good book that I will certainly be listening to again soon. For those who are Catholic or are looking for a deeper understanding of the mysteries, this book is a must! Even for those outside of faith, this book should hopefully open you up to what a Catholic seeks. It should give a good understanding why those of us who truly believe in Christ seek our faith with such passion.

👍🏻

This was a fantastic book. The narration is dry at times and there are some glaring mispronunciations, but it's well worth the time anyway.

of one cup . Then ,in the Eucharistic prayer a chalice ,
This sheds a whole new light on the Last Supper/ first Mass.
and Calvary.
