Publisher's summary

Too few people attending church today, even those in evangelical churches, are exposed to the gospel explicitly. Sure, many will hear about Jesus, and about being good and avoiding bad, but the gospel message simply isn't there--at least not in its specificity and its fullness. Inspired by the needs of both the overchurched and the unchurched, and bolstered by the common neglect of the explicit gospel within Christianity, Matt Chandler has written this punchy treatise. He begins with the specifics of the gospel--outlining what it is and what it is not--and then switches gears to focus on the fullness of the gospel and its massive implications on both personal and cosmic levels. Recognizing our tendency to fixate on either the micro or macro aspects of the gospel, Chandler also warns us of the dangers on either side--of becoming overly individualistic or syncretistic. Here is a call to true Christianity, to know the gospel explicitly, and to unite the church on the amazing grounds of the good news of Jesus!

Absolutely Amazing!

Encouraging and convicting. A jewel to be used in discipleship and personal devotion. The gospel alone saves, sanctifies, and secures.

straight and to the point

This was an easy listen. The author has a way of explaining his thoughts well. It's nice to have a thought presented but he does a good job expounding on them.

I get it!

While reading this book, I didn’t understand moral deism because I’m not a Bible scholar and then I got it! Now I understand why the gospel never impacted me! I didn’t care about morals! I just knew I didn’t want to be the same person as my mom or dad (unbelievers who hated life and us children, so I thought). I stood up after hearing the gospel 900 times because I was tired of who I was perpetuating! Then, 5 years later, I began wanting to love, I began wanting to see people changed, I began wanting more for myself. It was nothing I did!!! It was all Christ!!! I have been changing from the inside out because of the work of Holy Spirit, but anything I’ve done and now I know it!!! I’m crying because I know that the gospel is the only thing that made me accept Holy Spirit and now that I am taking steps and actually running, God isn’t wondering when I’ll fall like my parents would, but He is happy I even want to!!!! God bless this book and author!!!

Complete Picture with New ways to consider, comprehend and live

I loved the way Matt broke out something that many just accept as is. Even if you are a believer, the way Matt builds the layer cake of a faith in an Explicit Gospel verse an assumed gospel helps me to unpack the enormity of what God has done for me and what kind of relationship He wants with me.

Tell It Like It Is

Explicit Gospel is just what the book is named. Share it. Believe it. Live it. It explains the differences of the law, being moral and understanding what grace really means. It either gets you on the right track or confirms your walk.
