Publisher's Summary

Paul’s letter to the Romans is arguably the greatest ever written. With these 225 messages, Piper preaches through the book - verse by verse, phrase by phrase - faithfully pointing listeners to Christ and the gospel. “The glory of Christ seems more glorious to me now than it ever has. And there is no greater exposition of the Gospel of God than the book of Romans.”
—John Piper

Well Worth a Month's Credit

Any additional comments?

If you want to save a credit you can download every single sermon in this series from Dr. Piper's website. However, it was well worth a credit to be able to download all 8 years worth of sermons at one time and have them consolidated and sorted in Audible. For a christian, these sermons are game changers, truly eye opening and life changing. Rarely has any pastor or theologian presented the greatest of all the epistles in such a clear and profound manner - dutifully explaining the sophisticated theology in a way that any layman can understand while at the same time revealing the every day life application of this book. If you've put your faith in the Gospel, this is a book you need to know and there's no better expositor then John Piper.

The most complete expositional view of Romans Ever

This is perhaps the most extensive expositional preaching of the book of Romans. It is not painstakingly slow but rather rich with challenging content. I recommend it any reformed seminary student.

Amazing Exposition of Romans

This is a phenomenal exposition of the book of Romans by Pastor John Piper. It is a series of sermons each about 35-45 minutes long through Paul's letter to the Romans starting with Chapter 1 verse 1 and proceeding to the end of the book. The original time taken to record this was several years (somewhere between 4 and 8), and Piper jokes about it throughout.

Piper has an amazing gift to be able to provide a thorough understanding of the text and really help understand the intent of Paul's greatest letter. Piper's teachings are both academic and pragmatic. He does not over spiritualize the topics and often provides very thoughtful illustrations and analogies to help the listener better understand complex topics.

From a technical perspective, the audio quality is great and it is a joy to listen to. The download is split into 18 parts with each sermon coming as a single chapter. This is a long series; but, it is very easy to go back and forth between them if you'd like to listen again, which you likely will.

I highly recommend this title to all those interested in a deeper understanding of the Christian faith and how it relates to its origins in Judaism, our response to Jesus as the Christ, what it means to live a holy life, and how to walk in the Spirit of God. It continues to be an extremely helpful resource in my spiritual development and is a joy to listen to during my commute or in my private study time. My understanding of the Gospel is still deepening as a result of this selection.

Bottom line: This is a true 5-star selection. At only 1 credit, this is a steal. Download it today to deepen your understanding and faith.

The Glory of God

Where does Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best audiobooks I have purchased thus far. John Piper is a powerful preacher, and it is very spiritually enriching to listen to this audiobook of his sermon on Romans every day during my commute.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written?

He really drives home the magnitude of the glory of God. I am still listening to the audiobook (as it is over 150hrs long), but I am humbled and left in awe and the glory of our God after listening to these sermons

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Haha, no, definitely not a one sitting book. Way to deep and thought-provoking to just sit and listen all day.

Great series of messages

Where does Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love the Book of Romans and this is one of the best series of messages on that great book. John Piper brings the story to the listener with insights through the scriptures.

I only started listening to him in the past several months and have found him to be one of better pastor-teachers that I have heard.

What does John Piper bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Emotion, his personal point of view which is backed up by scripture.

Anointed Teaching

What made the experience of listening to Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written the most enjoyable?

If you are seeking 'Truth' concerning the Word of God...then listen to Rev John Piper. It is NOT about him, it is about God...all the way. I believe he is one of the most gifted, enlightened Teachers of the past and present century! This is deep.

What other book might you compare Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written to and why?

Hebrews by John Piper

Any additional comments?

A must for everyone.

Fantastic

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this not only to a friend to all people

What was one of the most memorable moments of Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written?

All of the best theologians, those close to God are not found in academia. The greatest gift to mankind from God is found in those who preach. Therefore do not study textual manuals on justification. Listen to the preacher on Sunday morning

Romans

If there was a Modern Preachers who is most known for his preaching on Romans it has to be John Piper.

Piper has preached through Romans for the dureation of his ministry. A great number of years.

He is very good at cross refering the thing he is teaching on.

He is a very clear communicator.

Some of the sermons are definitely hit and miss but one thing needs to be said, these are rare indeed.

It *is* worth noting that this is not an audio book per se but rather the sermons he has preached over many many years collected into a huge audio collection [about 150 hours].

The up shot of thisis that the audio quality varies greatly. I didn't find that this affected me adversely.

If you love the Bible and love Biblical preaching, you will love this collection of Piper's sermons.

No titles

This book is 100 + hours, divided into 18 files, but there is no way to distinguish them one from another. This means wasted hours starting, downloading and rejecting each file till you happen across the one you want. I love John Piper teaching, but this failing, common to all audible books comprised of multiple files, is a disappointment

A wonderful teacher, espousing the glory of God.

An excellent piece of exposition, over the course of 8 years, you see him take his church through Paul's letter, with sensitivity, and at points brusquely when appropriate.

He is clear, and coming out of this, you will have a clearer view of God's sovereignty and our relationship with him.

Pipers teaching is a sure way to greater appreciate God's worth, and you will meditate on these wonderful prayerful sermons.

Wonderful

Where does Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It took me over two years to get through the series, sometimes re-listening to the same sermon twice. I didn't find it was a book I could just rush through as the subject matter was challenging and sometimes quite deep - well for me anyway. It revealed truth where I was previously confused about doctrine. In short it's been fundamental to help me grow as a Christian so aside from the bible I'd rate it as the best audiobook I've ever read.

God exalting preaching at its best

This is my third time of listening to this series , it is indeed meat for the soul to show how glorious God is in his dealings with men. Piper expounds and exposes arguments from Paul that give insight into why this gospel is so deep and wide as indeed the love of God is towards us in showing and making known his Glory.

Life changing

give honor where honor is due and I honor Ps John Piper for His diligence over not 8 years and countless hours poured into this study of Romans but His life He has poured out to giving our Savior And Mighty Gracious Heavenly Father all Glory . All Glory to God forever. I will listen again and again
